Reading the Valley News Dispatch article about their choice of not participating in a playoff game because of a player not eligable turned my stomach, all concerned did the right thing by not participating, but just the thought of something so inocent turning into what appears to be tainted by some "thug adults".
If the AR-KEN Youth Football Assoc is an off-shoot of the orignal AR-KEN Wrens I know that the handfull of dedicated men and women that created the orig Wrens must be livid, is this what it has turned into? If memory is right, the Wrens were born or operated in the basement of two 5th ave bars by parents that really wanted to do the right thing staring from scratch, that would never happen today.
My reommendation; stay in the area, your own backyard, go back to what was the start.

Friends and I were players of the benchmark team, not 100% but I think it was the ArDen and Scrinias (very bad sp), we covered every inch of NK and Arnold door to door handing out plastic possies for donations to get equipment.
Coaches Kozi and Cappa along with the other parents that rode us around, that took the time and pocket expense to run with the idea of organized youth football, Thank You.

It is great to hear everyone remembering the glory days of Ar Ken! Oh how far they seem to have fallen. The problems are not the league, the organization, or the kids. It is the invasion of politics and personal agendas that has crippled this fine community outreach program. Throughout recent months I have seen a number of articles in the paper and pieces on the news saying over and over it is about the kids. Unfortunately if it was about the kids there wouldn't be these rumors swirling of school administrators looking to block the kids from playing or boycotting the banquet or generally not helping. Isn't it time to put aside the personal feelings and teach a lesson to the children of togetherness and community for their own good? Unfortunately I no longer live in the community but when I hear these stories it turns my stomach!

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Cancer

Mercury turning retro is offering you the chance to make sweeping and long-lasting changes to your life, and to clear the ground for some fertile growth in 2010. Lawyers and legal matters, debates, contract negotiations, partnership or other alliances, and joint ventures of any kind need attention. As a Cancerian you don't like endings, but you must now bring an end to any situation or relationship that is holding you back or has passed its sell-by date. Look forward, not back, if you want a glittering future.
