I'm thinking you're on the wrong thread there Guests. Only problem is.... this threads more active so you decided to throw down in here:) Tell me something, aside from sitting under the air all day playing video games... what is it your children do for fun? Exactly. B@stard must be a self reflection of yourself... you use it enough:) If we put a "hunting season" out on guests in here... we wouldn't have to listen to you say b@stard one more time ... don't you know any other big words dear?

My tax dollars happen to be my business...& kids. So now come back with some more foul mouthed banter...you're doing an awesome job, shooting for "parent" of the year? Aside from this thread, you're on the others talking the same crap with the same foul mouth. Trust me, it makes you look ignorant:) I see that looking ignorant hasn't stopped you. If only you would live up to the same expectations that you expect from everyone else.

It takes all of an hour to go through the place. It is a traveling discovery museum for kids. It's held in asu museum and will be here in Jb until September. Sorry I didn't have specific details earlier. The museums are my husbands thing lol http://www.arkansasdiscoverynetwork.org/RoadT...

There is a free water play area at Craighead Forest. Load up your families and take them there. We also have the Nature Center, and a new City public pool, putt put golf, a Public Library, and Chucky Cheese,...and many other parks, playgrounds, a skatepark, bowling ally, movie theatre, ball teams, ball parks, and several youth centers. I'm failing to see a lack of things to do here. Kids are having more and more things catered to them for their pleasures, but yet they are getting worse and worse. Most Kids didn't do the things they are doing today, crime and disrespect wise, nor did they have all of these silly things to entertain them. People need to concentrate on making their HOMES their childrens havens, not enticements to pull them farther away from loving their homes and what should be their family life. I actually think that a lot of these programs, and enticements are making things worse. I believe all of these big areas/cities that follow the path of entertaining and babysitting kids AWAY from home, have a huge rate of crime with their youths. The smaller towns that leave it to the families to entertain seem to have much better kids. The more that is supplied, the more that us expected. The more they have, the harder they grow to entertain. The Golden Oldies, our Grandmothers and Grandfathers were thrown a sock ball and a stick to entertain themselves with, and most will tell stories relating to it with huge smiles.

I agree with that. When I was younger me and my sister rode bikes all the time! From the time we got off the school bus until diner time. We live in town and my little girl really can't play outside like we did in the country. So she takes a once a week tumbling class at CU and plays in the small back yard, in the sprinklers, or helps walk our dogs. Often she'll be taken to the little water park of the playground. Their is no need for large theme or water Parks here. We are a small area and have plenty of great things here. Kids don't need constant entertainment. But maybe more parental supervisor and attention.

No, basturd is a reflection on the parents of the little chits the posters on this thread feel so sorry for! The "parents" I use the term loosely, are looking for another place to drop the kids while they themselves spend time on their own selfish pursuits. Good parents who spend quality time with their children gardening, building a tree house, fishing, reading, baking cookies, playing with two empty soup cans and a string! It doesn't take any money, kids really want and need attention and positive reinforcement! Unfortunately the little basturds running the streets getting into trouble can't help it. They are the result of self absorbed parents who, by their actions, have told the little chits they are not worthy of their time.

I may have been a young bride then mother but I know how things were when I was a child. Being a parent is less about giving the best of everything and more about raising grounded adults. Parents now, young, old, married,or single, should think hard about that. Water parks are fun but I think a little family road trip to one is better than easy access.

All that is well and good, but once you've taken your kids to the nature center for the 50th time it gets a little old. We've lived here for almost 10 years. We've done everything there is to do here. I'm not freaking out about it and demanding someone build me a new play place for my kiddos, just saying something new would be refreshing. And before anyone says I need to build a damn tree house with them, we've done that. My kids were home schooled for a few years, so we've done more at home projects than you can imagine. Sometimes it's not just people who want to get rid of their kids for a few hours that like something fun to GO OUT and do. That's all I'm saying.

Memphis had a water slide, and it closed up and they tore it down when things began getting bad, about 20 years ago. Memphis also had Liberty Land. They closed it up and dismantled it also when things began getting bad, about 15'ish years ago. Jonesboro is already to that point, so I would safely say that no wise person is going to invest in that venture. That's why it hasn't been done already. To be honest, things like that do not do good in areas with a diverse population. Hot Springs does great. Branson does great. DollyWood in Gatlinburg does great. Stuff like that would not work here. Sorry. You cannot have diversity and entertainment places too.

I was thinking something more along the lines of children's museums. Unfortunately, I already know that because of some of the people who live here we can't have those type of things anyway. If you have something educational that you have to pay to get into however, it keeps those sorts away. And decent people can enjoy them.

Your kids don't need to be entertained, they need to be parented. Something that is almost nonexistent here in Jonesboro. You are teaching your kids that you don't care about them at all for the most part. You don't even teach them right from wrong. Of course, when dealing with you parents of these delinquents it really does appear that you parents don't know right from wrong. I see you teaching them to hurt other people, to steal, lie, run the streets looking for any and every opportunity to cause pain and destruction. Older teens? Yes. But even the preteens here now are nothing more than criminals who are raised to be criminals and encouraged to be criminals and praised for being criminals. We're investigating. You need to keep your kids home and supervised if you don't want to become part of the legal system in a very negative way. A repeated part of the legal system in a very negative way AGAIN for all too many of you.

A water/amusement park CLOSE to here might do well. Like Brookland area, Valley View or Bono. The Waterparks in Hot Springs, Little Rock, and Branson all do well because they are located 'OUT' in rural areas where the residential population is scarce. Every child does deserve to have recreational fun, but it just cannot be within walking distance to children/teens that are thrown out into the streets with zero adult supervision, to find ways to entertain themselves. Those children are the ones that have no discipline at home, do not ever want to be at their home, and unfortunately find that terrorizing others is fun. I think you are absolutely correct, that educational fun over recreational fun is far more beneficial to children.

If your kids are elementary age or early middle school I'm sure the kids museum at asu will be worth your time. I posted the link to the schedules earlier. It is free but I don't think it gets to busy ;)

Now that's a good idea and would probably succeed. I didn't know it was possible, where do I sign up?

I didn't know it was possible, where do I sign up? where did that post mention color? It mentions that it needs to be AWAY from residential areas, to prevent the old $59.00 for a season pass to be looked at like $59.00 summer long babysitting service, or $59.00 where the parents get a break from their kids all summer long, regardless if they are an unchaperoned black, WHITE, brown, or polka dot child. I see that someone needs to knock that big race chip off of your shoulder.

We had water slides once :) it was part of the put-put stuff over on Parker rd, then they closed it up but I was too young to know y they closed it, I thinkn it was getting old and started needing repairs. Then they had the go-carts (aka CartWorld) on the hill instead of the water slide and now it's gone too :/
