Soldiers

Whether anyone cares to notice or not our country is at war! We have a comfortable, secure life without a draft because volunteers do our fighting.

Let me tell you - Afghanistan is a hellhole the same as Vietnam, Korea, Guadalcanal, etc. It is hot and cold both drastically. Also vertical as in mountains that make the Rockies look like hills. Anyone and everyone can and will shoot at you.

Troops can and do take fire and bombings anywhere, anytime, all the time.

A big difference is that due to modern medicine, many who would have died come home instead.

These soldiers are heroes among us and yet we ignore them. Hell, 40% of the population does not realize we are at war.

I am embarrassed that young men die every day for your lazy, complacent, me-first, selfish asses.

You, the majority of Americans, should be ashamed of your apathetic ignorance. Several soldiers died for you today ... Do you even know their names or care to?

At least, please respect the wounded who come home.

They are not fighting for me or my freedom. They choose to go and fight for the war mongers that manipulate the people to think they are there for a cause, when in reality they are just invading another country

Nobody cares. We have a volunteer military. They went on their own. Big deal. Just like cops and firefighters who think we should worship the ground they walk on, I say go blow. There are millions of people doing dangerous jobs every day besides soldiers, cops and fireboys, and you don't see them begging for you to worship the ground they walk on. Enough already. Why don't you really say what you really want? That is, you want to raise my taxes to give these employees of the federal govt more money. The answer is NO!

both of you are right, we did volunteer to serve. an maybe we are fighting for the wrong reasons. but folks such as your self will be the first to cry for help when a natural Disaster hit. i'll make sure that my phone is off the hook

I never looked at police or firefighters as hero's. They are just doing the job they are trained for and paid for just like the rest of us. They are not the same as the military. Allot of jobs are dangerous and more dangerous than police and fire.

you are right, most of the dangerous jobs out there make a lot more money than police, firefights and the military. i don't know what the police make in jonesboro but where i live they don't make enough for me to put my life on the line, and think about it, how many get shot just pulling over a traffic stop.

I agree with most of what you said. However, not all Americans are like that. I'm not. My family isn't. My husband served 8 years in the military. We still have many friends that are in.

Plenty of people are lazy and ungrateful though. Personally I think we should be sending violent criminals and lazy welfare leeches over there to be the bullet shields for real men and women who DO volunteer to stand up for the rest of us. But that's just me.

We shouldn't send anybody over there because we shouldn't be over there in the first place.
