And the Lilly family drives another nail into the coffin of Erie broadcasting. Pretty soon Erie TV will be remote operations from somewhere else. Old man Lamb must be rolling over in his grave.

Any more updates on the merger? Also, what happened to Kelsie Smith of WICU? Her name has been removed from the WICU web site.
Kelsy moved to ICU's sister station WENY in Elmira, NY, where she is the morning anchor/ producer. She joins Scott Cook who also moved to ENY from ICU.

What's your source? No one at 12 seems to know anything about it. Is this just wishful thinking on your part?

What's the latest on the WSEE WICU merge. It was announced that two stations in Syracuse (WTVH and WSTM)were going to merge their operations. The down side was that 40 people were laid off. Erie, being a much smaller market, can't be too far off from that happening.

As long as Amelia is on the air, I will remain contented. And Cheryl should be right there, too.
But could we get rid of 'quiz whoever is anchor' on weather trivia? Please?
When some of you people talk about salaries, I think you may be overstating what some people make. I would guess the youngsters on air make in the mid 20s.

Why doesn't WSEE fire Joey Stevens and then take Stevens' 120K salary and give each underpaid
on-air person a 5-10K raise?

If Brian Lilly were to fire Joey Stevens all Lilly would do is pocket the savings and buy another BMW! Face it, there are people working at McDonalds and Burger King that make more than those at WSEE/WICU!

Now back to the original topic. Is there any additional news to report on the proposed merger between WICU and WSEE?

Back off topic... why doesn't GE do the same with its management and bigwig $$. Give it to the folks that are actually WORKING? Less talk and more productiveness.

The merger will happen even if SEE employees don't want it to. 2 people are going to be laid off @ ICU, while 3 others are going to made part time. 1 of the part time people has already said they will leave permanently.
Nothing will happen prior to June unless the economy continues to tumble. In June you will most likely see a scenario like this---Any employee not under a personal contract will be laid off, that would be most of the newsroom. Reporters, photographers, middle managers---all gone. If the remaining people cannot shoot, report and edit, they will be let go.
That's the basic scenario. SEE needs to realize they are an albatross around Lilly's neck. ICU does not need SEE, SEE needs ICU. The same should happen @ ENY in Elmira, but that's another tale.
Everyone complains about Joey, but the reality is that he generates huge revenue on the Caribean(sp?) network. He literally generates his weight in gold and then some. Do not expect him to go anywhere.
So, basically that's it. The merger will happen and there will be a bunch of people hitting the bricks. The only thing anyone can hope for is a huge turnaround in the economy.

WHAT exactly will happen when WSEE News moves into 35th & State? Will WSEE get their own news set? Will they still have a broadcast identity? Isn't there not enough room for 2 newsrooms at 35th & State? WHERE in the studio will the "NewsWatch" set go?

I think this whole WICU/WSEE merger talk is just the end result of a disgruntled former employee's wet dream. Like Scott Bremner has said on PressandTower.com many times: "there is NOT going to be a merger." Well said, Scott!

Bring back Hyle Richmond, Bob "sudsy" Sutherland (he was funny when his toupee' was crooked.- I never laughed so hard) Shirley Ramsey (very soothing voice even during a Hurricane) Doug Davis (another crooked toupee' wearer) and Ned McGrath. They were good TV people.

That would be a mean feat to accomplish. They're ALL dead - you arse!
