PRESIDENT OBAMA - DID GOD PUT HIM IN AUTHORITY?

ROMANS 13:1,2 - "Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished."

ROMANS 8:28 - "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."

While I will never agree with Obama on abortion, gay marriage and many other things. I do believe that God is still in control. That gives me peace.

Some want to act like President Obama is the savior for our nation....ONLY GOD IS THE SAVIOR FOR OUR NATION. We need to pray that God lead and guide our president.

Let us never put any man in God's seat, man will fail us -- God will not!

So by the first Bible verse you quote, God put Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein, Pol Pot in power and their subjects were to submit. I see.

God's laws always come first. Do we submit to authority when that authority is going against God's laws? According to the Bible, no!

But, we do need to submit to those things that are not against what God commands.

The Bible is either all truth or all lies. We cannot pick and chose which part we believe.

Did God lead Hilter to kill the Jews? How about Saddam Hussein and his reign of terror? NO! The Bible says that Satan comes to kill and destroy but God comes to give life and life more abundant.

As mere humans, we will never understand the mind of God. The Bible says that His ways are higher than ours, his thoughts higher than ours.

Religious fanaticism, at it's finest.

This nation will rise or fall on the strengths or weakness of men, not on the mythologies we follow.

Sorry Saloth....That is not Biblical! It does say to obey authority, correct. But it does not mean when authority comes against God's laws! You have to take the whole Bible and verse into context when reading Scripture.

It DOES say that God places all authority, it does NOT say, authority He places is Holy and Righteous!

Consider the story of Shadrach, Meishach, and Abednego. They would not bow down and worship the King, yet God showed up for them!

Another story when Jesus was born a king made a decree to kill all the newborn babies....Joseph and Mary hid Jesus. Were they in disobedience to God's authority....NO!

There are so many stories like that in the Bible.

By the way, you think you know who I am...yet you do not! Kinda funny!

Julie, you wrote:

"By the way, you think you know who I am...yet you do not!"

What in the world are you talking about? I don't know who you are, and what's more, I don't care. Just FYI, FWIW, etc.

I brought this topic up because as a Christian who voted morally, I voted against Obama.

Now that Obama will be president, as a Christian I must honor our new President and pray for him.

There are some people out there calling him the Anti-Christ! I have received prophecies about Palin coming to lead our country....SOMETIMES CHRISTIANS ARE FREAKY! Maybe they didn't mean in this election? Hmmm?

I am a Christian, I am not trying to offend other Christians....but seriously now, that stuff is weird!

I will honor and pray for him. I will also trust God with our country and our leaders. I will not disrespect Obama, although I do not agree with him on many things.

I am really glad of one thing though, I appreciate the fact that we have a president that is black! That is one good thing! I am not black, but I am so against racism! That is something exciting...I will just trust God with all the rest!

Not everything has a religious connotation. This is a fundamental issue with many "Christians" and it polarizes other people who have a healthy understanding of God and those who don't believe. Fanatical blind belief is not healthy no matter what the addiction. Try to see things for what they are, not how they "always" relate to the bible.

Maybe this will help:

Hosea 8:4 –“ They set up kings, but not by Me; They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them. From their silver and gold They made idols for themselves—That they might be cut off.

All true authority comes from God, but those who don't answer to God are cut off from God. Authority must flow from God, or it is not true authority at all. We must also test those in authority to see if their authority is from god.
I Thessalonians

19 yDo not quench the Spirit. 20 zDo not despise prophecies. 21 aTest all things; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.

When a ruler commands you to disobey God, then he no longer has biblical authority over Christians. Thus Joseph and Mary were not disobeying God when they did not submit to Caesars decree to kill baby Jesus.

its interesting how Christians think this country was founded by Christians and on biblical principles.. it wasnt. There was a reason why separation of church and state are important.

This country was founded by free masons, which were called free because they were free of religious oppression, free of government oppression.

He scares me too. I think it is part of the hype we have heard online. But then I don't think we should not have fear about anyone who takes this office. If they go nutty we could all be in for some trouble?
