Hey, with those odds, your doing what needs to be done, hold your head high, times will get better when is the answer. Those young adults need to find their way, guide the way.

Hudson Lover, I know what your saying about the kids and American Eagle etc. I've been there done that when the kids were in school, they want to fit in with their friends, its hard. Hernando Cty wants to do uniforms which I support, kakai pants/shorts and white shirts are nice and you don't have to be buying $65.00 jeans/$35.00 shirts. Kids driving around looking for jobs at $3.95 a gallon, sometimes $30.00 shot just driving looking for work. Now they want to cut the hours on The Bus, the only transportation other than taxi's.....how are people going to get to work/doctors/shop. I hate this place, I hate this place so darn much, and I can't get out of here because of the real estate plunge.

I try to guide and help in anyway that I can, young people need to be respected as well as the older generation too...In tough times everyone needs to be treated with respect and to know someone is out there willing to help and stand by their side..it really does help to have family if not really good friends to lend and helping hand...What you do for others comes back 10 folds.......

We still intend on calling Spring Hill/ Hernando Beach home someday.
But we'll proceed more carefully now.

At the local commissioners meeting on Tues. they had a economist there to give his report about the state of the economy in Spring Hill, Fl. and his words were "recession" in Hernando Cty. and until vacant homes are sold, only then will there be a recovery. But with most of the rest of the county in the same boat as we are, not many people are going to be moving from whereever to come here, since they also need to sell homes. This is a national event and before things get better they may get worse. I see and hear everyday of local people at their wits end, because of one thing or another, my heart crys for them, except their is very little anyone can do to help.

Truth, times are a changing. This place is the dumps, I can't believe that normal people move here and can't see what's going on. Sure we have nice weather if you can call it that, summer is a buster. But, where are all these friendly people I hear about. WHERE??? JOBS???? CULTURE as in Museums/theater/art??? WHERE????

The economy has just got so bad!!! It took the republicans and Prez Bush EIGHT small years to get us to this point. Hang the Terrorists, hang the Greedy Developers, it still won't make it "right" around here. Now we can replace our tourist dollars with oil speculation in the Gulf, and cheap promises. Florida has always been a "lick & a promise", now it's just a "lick". PS: Am I the only one who feels sold out?

Don't give it up - culture only seems to be dead
Just south a ways, off Rt 19 we have, yes, gosh darn, a real MUSEUM..... I know cause I've lectured there for several years about stuff like Picasso, current artists, arts/crafts and more. We loan out an auditorium to a group of Players who several times a year try out well known plays by international writers. The building, shaped in form of a ship is great if you want to sing from the bow of The Titanic......
Interested? The Leepa-Rattner M of Art is on the campus of St Petersburg College in Tarpon Springs...... yep south on 19, right at Klosterman, right at next light, BINGO [closed only Monday; freebee on Sunday]

I live just north of Hernando County and I love living here. I bring my kids/grandkids to the Pine Island Beach just to watch a sunset. If you have children, get them into sports, or the 4H. Now is the time to buy property, just make sure you get a deal, and it doesn't need repairs.

Do not come to Spring Hill.
To give you an idea of the people that live here.
There are no bookstores in all of Hernando County.
Studies have been done by Borders and others and the people here do not read! It is mainly a bunch of unhappy New Yorkers and alot of white trash.
