Was on Deltona today and I noticed Momma D's is no more. We tried it a couple of times but they closed early in the afternoon, but said they were open for dinner.

Now something called Craigs is there. That is not a good location.

Yes, I drove by there the other day there was 3 cars in the parking lot around 12:30PM, its called Craigs and unless he has "great" food, good staff and reasonable prices he will struggle. I wish them well and hope that they suceed, but, people are fickle and its a chance that anyone takes when they open for business here.

I agree, its a bad location, its been awhile that anyone really suceeded in that spot. I remember many years back when the people that build the restaurant where Cara Mia is, that place was packed for breakfast, so was Dad's Diner across the street, you had seniors in their sometimes waiting for tables to sit, the prices were downright cheap and the coffee endless. Those days are long gone, times they change.

I always wonder why someone opens up in the same spot like Momma D's, that place didn't last a year?

If I was going to open a place to eat here I would really do my research.

Unless you know to look for it, you're drive right by it.

Maybe they get cheap rent and that is why they open in place where someone just failed.

Now quite awhile ago I posted that we went to Momma D's for dinner and Momma wasn't there...LOL.

They never listed their hours. Their sign said Open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

We went there at 5pm(forget what day) and they were closed. I said to my husband , they're not going to last here. You can't have bankers hours when your running a restaruant.

Like you said you need great food and a good staff.

But you also have to be business savy. Post your hours and let people know your there.

The thing is it sounds similar to Momma D's menu wise.

I would also stay open later on Sundays. 2pm is too early to close on a Sunday.

A lot of these people don't have any business sense. They get an idea but don't know how to manage a place.

At least he is staying open later than Momma D's did, but I would stay open till 8pm.

And I wouldn't even open on Mondays and certainly not for those hours listed.

Pizza Villa for a long time wasn't open on Sundays...never understood that...now they are.

The only day a restuarant should close is Monday, which has always been a slow day in that business.

BTW I commented months ago about Momma D's and didn't think they would last. Do I have a crystal ball....lol....no...but common sense tells you don't advertise your opened for dinner and have the doors locked at 5pm.

We went there for dinner and they were closed. And they never posted their hours.

If you have lived here long enough you can almost predict who is going to make it and who isn't.

Knew the Cracked Egg was doomed. We ate there after they expanded and they lost the key to the cash register.

How do you only have one key????

I told my husband they're not going to make it. The place was empty and yet the food took forever and the waitress said she was embarrassed to be working there.

A couple of months later...gone.

To bad, because before they moved they had a nice little business going.

When the cracked egg was up at their old location they had a nice small business going. Ate in there once, wasn't nothing fancy but it was decent and the people were nice. Then they thought they could expand, they knew what they had, but they were unprepared for what they got.

It was a real shame, they lost big time, I heard that his wife became ill because of the pressures.

Spring Hill is a funny place, either you click or you don't. Several restaurants are still holding on, Cody's went there last night, they redid their menu 10 items under $9.98. Had ribs wasn't bad. We were leaving around 6:30 there were maybe 3 or 4 couples waiting. We got there we were sitted immediately.

Ercolino's.....his business seems to have slowed, we were there last week, still great food, but again 6:30 there were only three tables filled when we left.

China One......again on a Saturday night, place was filled but there were no couples waiting.

I am sorry to hear she is ill because of the stress, but the day we were there(after they expanded) was awful.

Food took forver(they weren't busy) and then they couldn't open the cash register because they had no key.

How do you only have one key for a cash register?

Plus I believe it was the wife was yelling about the key....you never do that in front of your customers....go in the back and yell...not in front of paying customers.

We walked out of there and I said...they won't last in the new place.

"In a study in Columbus, Ohio, Professor H.G. Parsa of Ohio State University, tracked new restaurants from 1996-1999. In the first year,
26% closed. Another 19% closed the second year, and 14% the third.

Collectively, 59% of new restaurants closed those three years. By the way, the "failure" rate wasn't very different between franchised restaurants ? 57%? and independent restaurants ? 61%."
