I am told they had a lively parks board meeting tonight. I hear the ex mayor didn't show up but one of her trained lab rat.s was in the back. I wonder if he tried to butt in on the director at this meeting. Anybody there for the meeting ?

I was there. A waste of time. They spent two hours talking about the health club and could not even answer a question from the audience after all that time as to whether they liked the idea of a health club if there was no financial impact. We need a new park board. These people are an embarrassment to the Village. Hand picked by Larson with about the same level of judgment. ZERO

Things really need to change here in Antioch. Our town has become too big for some of the inexperienced people who sit on boards and who run our Parks Department. It's a joke going to these meetings. I agree with McHenry above.

There were handfuls of people in support of a Village fitness center and possibly one (Laurie's Dad) voicing his daughter's opinion of non-support.

Okay then ... why couldn't the Park Board come to some sort of conclusion on how they would reach a decision on their recommendation. Where does it go from here? Back to the Village Board because the Park Board is incompetent?

It's become obvious that the Parks Department and Park Board are all about family and friends and loyalty to past political agendas ... we need some new blood in this area. People who are qualified. These people do not understand the need of the majority of Antioch any longer. This was fine when Antioch was a "small" town. But, it's more than doubled its size and many of us who were not born here are getting tired of those that have become incompetent in their roles/jobs because of that growth.

My proof is last night's display.

How could you be happy with the way this Parks Dept is run. The incompetence stands out like a 15 story building in downtown Antioch.Some of the people have tried to do the right thing but under the direction of Eva Braun who could. Having gone to some of the meetings when daddy was shooting his mouth off like he did when the Mayor told him to sit down when he was parked next to Larson who the hell would want to waste their time trying to make a difference. I went to a Park Board meeting a few months ago and walked out totally disgusted. I hope these people are not being paid anything. They earned nothing the night I watched them. They all seemed to be in a fog, and the woman who runs the parks program is hateful and stupid. I heard her shouting down the Trustees at a meeting at the fire station a couple of years ago. She was enraged that the Trustees were not considering breaking the law to allow one of their peers to run a bar. I guess everyone has freedom of speech, but gee, at least try to be civil.

Don't know anything about her dad, but if he is anything like her, he must be a piece of work.

Maybe the Mayor needs to do something about this situation. They seem to like to complain to the press but do nothing to solve problems. This town deserves better than a bunch of wanna be politicians that are not helping the residents. They are a joke. A bad joke.

My tax dollars in full waste mode. She and her board or whatever they are would last five minutes in the private sector. Why are government positions a dumping ground for the inept, the incompetent, and the uncaring?

It is time to clean out the Village of Antioch. If she is getting $50,000 of my tax dollars, I am beyond angry.

She also employed her father part time in the parks dept for part time work , what do you think that cost the tax-payers ? Her brother is a newly elected trustee ( Ted ) he sits next to another one who thinks he's king sh** Pierce. Oh and by the way when the next election happens you WILL see the group of old running like Ted for mayor, Mc Muffin for trustee , and a couple of other CrAP members from old. You see they have lost control of the village and the finances and want to gain control again.The good part now is the newly elected Mayor Hanson is moving forward in spite of the inept actions of Pierce and Ted. That will hinder their effort to go for a run as they accomplished nothing in four years except to almost bankrupt Antioch,THANK YOU DOROTHY AND GODFATHER MIKE.

I'd prefer to see every Village employee have the qualifications of the specific job they've been hired to do, not hired because of relationships. I believe our new administration should begin reviews of those put into positions of late because of loyalty. If they do not qualify for their jobs, demote them or remove them. I am against wasting my tax dollars anymore for incompetence in the Village departments.
