Back in August, I was on my way to pick up some people when my brake line burst. I immediately headed over to Pomp's as 1) I was close and 2) I heard some of the same people were there as when it belonged to Rick, and I'd gotten exceptional service at Rick's. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Some of the same people are there, but the service is no longer exceptional. It was 9:30 a.m. The place closes at noon on Saturday. There were two people in the building, no vehicles in the bays, no customers waiting. Basically the two employees were sitting in the office waiting for it to be noon so they could go home. I told them my brake line had burst and one of them fed me a line about how I'd have to have the whole brake line replaced and that would take several hours so they didn't have time to do it. I proceeded to tell him that when they replaced a piece of brake line a little over a year ago it didn't take several hours so I didn't see how it should take several hours now. When I stood up to this guy, he said they would look at it and the mechanic put it on the hoist. I went outside and watched. The mechanic raised the hoist, but that was it. He didn't walk around the vehicle and he certainly didn't look on the side where the brake fluid was leaking out. He didn't look at it at all. He brought the car down and told me he wouldn't drive it. Then the other guy came outside and told me to go home and bring it back Monday because they didn't have time. If they were so busy that they didn't have time, why weren't they BUSILY doing something? They weren't busy, they just didn't want to do it. In other words, those men sent me out on the road with a car with virtually no brakes when they had no business that day and plenty of time to make the repair. I did not have another vehicle and I did not have anyone to call so I was forced to go super slow and pray that I'd get home without killing anyone. I found a mechanic later on at another business who wasn't even working that day who volunteered to work on it and gave me a loaner to use in the meantime. It took him 1-1/2 to 2 hours and that included the time he spent going to the auto parts store so that shows that Pomp's would have had plenty of time to repair the brake line. I sent an email to their main office and received a short one saying the manager would try to rectify the situation. He didn't. All I asked for was a written apology from the two men who were there that day. A guy from the corporate office had contacted me and since it had been a month since I'd heard anything, I emailed him to let him know I hadn't heard from anyone. He told me they'd done all they could do, they'd apologized (NO I DIDN'T GET THE APOLOGIES) AND that next time I had a vehicle with no brakes, I should stay off the road. Excuse me? I had brakes when I left home. The line burst while I was on the road and I headed for the closest place that I knew was open to get it fixed. Then I was told to go away and come back Monday because even though there were no customers there and nobody was doing anything, they didn't have time. By that time, I was out of brake fluid and it was dangerous to drive home. I wonder if it was even legal for them to send me out on the road when they knew the vehicle was not safe. DON'T GO TO POMP'S IN SPOONER! Or anyplace else for that matter. Not only did Spooner management send me out on the road in an unsafe vehicle, but the corporate office didn't seem to care.
