Shots fired in north Spokane streets; one dead

There is currently a large focus in Spokane on "gangs". What is interesting to me in the discussion is that police agencies hold the all the information. They decide who is an who isn't a gang member or a gang associate or gang affiliated. What sorts of gangs are we talking about? Who are the members? Of course two of the largest categories of gangs in the area historically have been white supremacists and the Hells Angels. And of course the area is now inundated with a legal magnet for organized crime--casinos. The public needs to become a lot more informed on this issue because law enforcement is arming itself to the teeth using the justification of the alleged increase in gangs and are planning to focus more and more on Spokane's alleged "serious gang problem", so serious apparently that just before he resigned in disgrace US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales came to Spokane and held a "top secret, sensitive" meeting with Spokane police, sheriff, and other law enforcement agencies.

Where have you been? California based gang members have been bringing dope into Spokane for years. ICG (insane crip gangsters), 83's, nortenos, surenos, are all in this area.

Why don't you ask the police how a gangster gets designated as a "gangster"? It takes some doing to qualify.

First of all, yes, the Hell's Angels and the racist skin heads and other gangs have been here for a long time. And yes, other gangs are coming along as well. There is currently a large focus on gangs in Spokane, i.e., a series of recent forums on gangs, talk of gangs, Attorney General Gonzalez recent visit, inflation of gang statistics with no reference to sources. Sure the gangs you mention may be bringing drugs into Spokane as you say. You might have missed the home-grown methamphetamine problem of recent years which made us one of the top meth affected cities in the U.S.

Gangs are probley the most stupid thing I have ever heard of.I use to live in WA. Now looks like it has gone to .... with this gang stuff. Man i feel for the good people of this state. I had a problem once with a gang called MS13 but now they are called MS12. It's time the real people fought back and get rid of these free loading scum bags.
