Gas prices hit new records again in Nevada

BY BILL O'DRISCOLL * bodriscoll@rgj.com * June 10, 2008 Up, and up, and up. Gasoline's seemingly endless refrain reached another record today with the statewide average hitting $4.15 per gallon in AAA Nevada's ...

Nearly no one is mentioning it, but McCain was HECKLED four times at his June 10th speech. Why are people heckling McCain nearly every time he gives a speech?

Just a few years ago, a dozen eggs cost about 99 cents. Now, they’re about $2.69.

Just a few years ago, gasoline cost about $1.09/gallon. Now, it’s about $4.07/gallon.

Bush/McCain-style Republicans have spent about $500 BILLION in Iraq and Afghanistan, destroying the value of the dollar, and RAISING THE COST OF EVERYTHING.

They also prevented generic drugs from hitting the market and prevented Americans from getting less expensive prescription drugs from Canada.

Overall, the Republicans aren’t doing so well lately. What could be wrong? Maybe...

*$4.07+ for gasoline...
* Two botched wars...
* Giving our troops tanks without much armor...
* Providing substandard treatment in VA hospitals...
* Making the U.S. a country that’s known for TORTURING PEOPLE, then lying about it...
* Doing NEARLY NOTHING ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION because they
want their rich fat-cat contributors to have plenty of cheap labor available.

PEOPLE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF DO-NOTHING REPUBLICANS!

Bush WAITED ABOUT FOUR DAYS TO REACT TO HURRICANE KATRINA.
On the day Katrina came ashore, where was Bush???
Bush was EATING CAKE with John McCain at a FUNDRAISING EVENT
( see the picture at http://www.newsweek.com/id/133551 )

** Bush and McSAME-style Republicans have become a NAUSEATING, BAD JOKE,
** and campaigning with a Republican Endorsement is like having a DEAD FISH
** HANGING FROM YOUR NECK.

*$4.07+ for gasoline...

Its the liberal tree huggers who wont let us drill for oil or build refineries that have caused this.

* Two botched wars...

Stop listening to the negative drum beat of the leftist media these are not botched wars, we are winning and no one on the left wants to admit it and when we do win there gonna look like idiots with there pants down.

* Giving our troops tanks without much armor...

I believe the liberals were the ones who voted to send the troops to war and then refuse to fund them. Not sure where your getting your info from.

* Making the U.S. a country that’s known for TORTURING PEOPLE, then lying about it...

If you think what happened at abu grad is torture you have no idea what torture is. Our "torture techniques would not hold a candle to what are enemies do, when was the last time you saw an America behead a Iraqi and post it on the Internet.

* Doing NEARLY NOTHING ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION because they

Yea the democrats have made leaps and bounds to stopping illegals. Lets give them amnesty so they can all vote for us in the next election is not the answer. Last I heard conservatives were the only people will logical solutions to the invasion.

Bush WAITED ABOUT FOUR DAYS TO REACT TO HURRICANE KATRINA.

It is not he federal governments FEMA job to be a first responder, that is the state and local governments job, which was ran by who, oh let me guess libs. They had a weeks notice that Katrina was coming and still could not do anything about it. What you saw in new Orleans is the result of people relying on government to run there lives and depending on them for every aspect of there lives. IE socialism IE liberal train of thought.

You think things are bad now wait until Obama gets in there. What is it about liberals that make them think that even though socialism has failed every where in the world it as be tired but we could magically do it better. The government is a complete and utter failure at every level why give them more to take care of. We are losing more and more rights and liberties everyday and it is people like you that let it happen.

None/Zero of our fderal elected have been concerned to intercede. All the more reason for Voters to Vote New Faces into office. I am a candidate(D) for congressional dist (3). Uh, I've lived here since early 2000 and eggs have NEVER been .50/dozen since that time. In fact, one of the most glaring things I noticed upon moving here was how much more expensive food was versus NYC (where I'm from originally).

Hahaha Ok post some facts then, everything you posted was a flat out lie spoon fed to YOU by the liberal media and obviously you bought it just like the millions of other mindless drones that will believe any lie told to them no matter how obviously false it is. Your the one that needs to find out the truth behind the blanet lies you are told then go about and regurgetate. All it takes is a little common sense to see through the crap that is our media system.
I do have to agree with you though, I'll admit I'm only 28 but I have never in my life of buying groceries seen eggs for 50 cents a dozen, it amazes me you actually saw through that one, maybe because it was on the internet and you had to read and think about what was said instead of TV beams shooting straight lies in to your head.

But obviously you disagree with what I said, just curious what are your opinions on the topics brought up or are you just here to throw in snide remarks.

Well, kev, your venture would be mostly correct. I do agree with what the original poster said. And at last look, there was about 21% of you left who do not agree with him. Now what does that tell you?

My sensibilities tend towards the left, but I try not to shut my mind to ANY good ideas no matter where they originate. This country is in too much of a clusterf*ck to waste time on petty left/right BS.

That said, however, I have a HUGE problem with statments like yours -- they are VERBATIM what is spewn daily by right wing "news" outlets. To be fair, I have the same HUGE problem with the memes that come from the left as well.

As to "liberal media" ... oh my. Are there any left who still espouse that particular talking point? Even the right-wing's own poster boy, Pat Buchanan, admitted this was something they (the right wing) came up with in the 1980s to help boost St. Ronnie. The days of the "liberal media" died with Nixon's resignation, if one can even call THAT a "liberal media".

The very fact that you actually believe (or at least as you wrote) that GWB has done ANY good is beyond the scope of comprehension. Seriously. What exactly has he done that's "good"? And remember, he was "elected" to SERVE THE PEOPLE, not the Halliburtons. The economy is in the toilet, we now seem to have "war without end", the Pentagon budget is through the stratosphere (at the expense of the, e.g., Katrinas of the nation), "education" has been reduced to standardized testing (I shudder to think of the lack of cognitive skills of the coming generation), the dollar has tanked (and continues to do so), China OWNS our asses (and Georgie's done nothing to try to stem that particular tide), etc. etc. etc. Where's the "good"?

IMHO, ALL politicians are the same; they are ONLY beholden to their corporate masters. If our resident running-for-office candidate wasn't such an obvious idiot, s/he would be exactly what we need -- a NON-politician. Start at the local level; it tends to build.

You asked.

"And at last look, there was about 21% of you left who do not agree with him"

Just curios to know where you got your numbers from? Last I heard the Congress's approval rating it about half the presidents. Not that his is something to be proud of.

And to be honest with you even though I am a conservative I think bush is a horrible president. But I don't think the solution to that is to appoint socialists to office, becuase lets be honest that's what the left has become. We are about to elect a president that refuses to were an AMERICAN flag pin on his chest, i know that sounds like a silly detail but I think it pretty much sums the guy up along with all the other liberals in this country, they hate there own country.

And if you can't see a biasts in the media towards the left there is no point talking to you cause your blind to the real world around you.

Anyway the main thing that upset me about the og post is the high gas prices thing. Plain and simple prices are high becuase we do not drill for our own and have not built a refinery in years. We have huge resources here, but it would make way to much sense to tap them... about as much sense as it would make to use the most abundant resource we have Coal for cheap energy or god forbid we use the cleanest form of energy Nuclear. We are not in this situation because of the lack of wind mills, solar panels, and hybrid vehicles.
