Dallas DJ Russ Martin arrested in Southlake

I'll believe this when I see official court records. Russ has a notoriously close relationship with law enforcement agencies all over North Texas and is known to pull stunts like this as part of a radio "bit" to increase his visibility. If that IS the case, then kudos and "Bravo!" to him for playing the media like this for his own benefit. If it's NOT, then I hope he beats the case. God knows he's got the $$$ to hire a top notch defense team.

I'm thinking about calling into "The Everett Newton Show" on KLLI tonight to see if Ev will confirm or deny this. Either he or Tim Powers would have been the first one Russ contacted after his arrest, so he'll know the scoop. It shouldn't be hard to tell from the tone of his voice if it's all a stunt. He'll probably be evasive, but that's to be expected. It'll be his tone that gives it away.

I don't believe this is a stunt at all. I think Russ has some anger issues relating to family. I think he needs to get honest and address these issues.

Most celebrities have their personal lives out there for everyone to see, like it or not. I think he has some secrets, and is stuffing a lot of anger. Maybe I know more than I should.

Did anyone notice that this morning on his myspace his profile pic was his mugshot. It's been changed and removed from his profile since then, but that just seems kinda "hose-job"ish. IDK, guess we'll find out soon enough. All of the stuff that's being said just seems too odd to me.

I had a thought: Unless Southlake doesn't have a city jail and they take you right to county like Dallas does (which may be the case, I don't know) why would he be wearing a jumpsuit? The press release says he was released hours after his arrest, so he wouldn't have been "chained" to county yet. Of the literally HUNDREDS of times that I've been arrested, the only time I was issued a jumpsuit at the city jail was when a posse of local, state, and federal officers had to use a frickin' FLAMETHROWER to stop me from carrying off an entire bank vault. My clothes, along with my hair, skin, eyebrows, and soul were SCORCHED. Heh, you shoulda seen my mugshot! I was not a happy camper.

I don't know, but I'm sure glad that whatever the reason(s), P&K are GONE! Sure, Live 105.3 is disintegrating right before our eyes, but who cares? It's like watching a train wreck! Even if they change formats, the RMS will not have a hard time finding another station. I haven't seen the numbers myself, but I've heard that his Arbitron ratings have fallen in the past couple years, but it's still an immensely popular show in DFW. I listened to Russ on the Eagle before ClearChannel pulled the plug, and I'll follow him to another station if that's where the chips fall.

I think if it was a "bit" he would have picked a lesser offense than a felony charge. I did notice on his mug shot that it was taken from Keller PD. Maybe he was issued a jumpsuit there immediately, I don't know. I'm also curious about P&K.

I'm debating doing an "open records request" to get the arrest report. Was it Southlake PD or Keller PD that actually arrested him? I think that's worth $10. I'm starting to smell a hose job, though. There's no way any cop would falsify records just to help a radio host further a bit, so if there are no records found, we'll know that AP got frickin' H - o - s - e - d. I hope they don't run "Best of" today; I'm sitting here glued to my radio for any scrap of news Re: Russ that may spill out. BDH is kinda hard to listen to, but he's a lot better than those losers he's "filling in" for.

I dont know what is goin on but I think Russ should just go to sat. radio so i can hear the show everywhere i go. If it is a bit, DAMN!!!! he go coverage all over the state and then some. Good One. If it aint a bit, good luck Russ.
