Yup, He was going to be fired this morning anyways for having sexual relations with a 7yr old.

I think it is terrible for people to jump to unfounded conclusions at his familys expense. Can't they wait for the facts. This is an awful tradegy for not only the police who worked with him but for the family that loved him. Wait for answers, don't always look for the worst.

He Killed himself because he was about to get fired in the morning, then arrested for having sexual relations with a 7yr old. Why does the truth hurt so much?

Holy shit! He deserved to be in jail rather than have the easy way out by killing himself. A 7 year old!??!?! That is just sick!

You are all wrong and spreading this type of untrue information is sinful and unlawful. The matter is being investigated by the SBI. I am sure the truth will be made known.

You should never judge someone unless there are hard facts to base your opinion on.

I taught this man's stepson in the sixth grade. I know his wife and all of her family. When he came to parent-teachers conferences he was very nice and always was concerned about his stepson's success and behavior in school. His stepson is now a senior at Currituck County High School, Currituck, NC. I do not know any thing about what he did in his job in Dare County but the chief deputy , Sandy Casey, in Currituck had nothing but good things to say about his work while Mr. Pledger was a deputy in our county. Please pray for the family who has lost their son. Pray for his two children, wife and other family members.

I knew Thad very well. My X stepdad use to be the cief of Southern Shores. Then he stepped down and Thad took his spot. Thad was a very nice guy. And it's sad that this has happened. I don't think anyone should jump to conclusions, exspecially if you don't know him. It hurts me very much to know that he is gone now. But he will always be remembered. R.I.P. Thad Pledger.

He was my friend. The rumors are runing rampant I see. What a shame. The first rumors said a 17 year old girl I see now that it has gone to age 7. All I can say is NO WAY. If that were true why hasnt the mayor responded with the explanation. I don't believe he killed himself. Who shoots themsleves in the stomach if they want to kill themselves? He was a good man, a good friend with a wonderful family. I am sad that he is no longer in this world and look forward to seeing him in the next. Meanwhile the SBI investigation into his death continues. His wife needs love and support. She doesnt believe he killed himself nor does anyone who actually knew him. He was a hero and I hope he is always remembered that way.

This is disgusting. Thad was an upstanding man/Chief/Father/Friend. I worked w/Thad at SS and knew he and his family for many years before that. He took a Dept. that had been tarnished and made it honorable. Get a life instead of making up slanderous comments about someone you never new and unfortunately will never know. He loved his family so much, it was rare to see a true man such as he was. I do hope you never lose anyone and have to see such trash and lies written about them. No he never hurt a child, he locked up those who did and made Dare County a safer place to raise my children. BTW, I am not a transplant to Dare County.
