Our town needs

Lester is wonderful place to live and raise children.A neighbor is always willing to help a neighbor. The school and it's facility are great.We don't have the crime rate like the bigger cites, etc. etc. etc.But, we need to clean up our town!!!!! The old buildings need to be torn down and removed. The ones that have been tore down already, the debris needs to be taken away.The trash in the yards is an eye sore!!! It's an embarrassment to have people drive through such a wonderful place and we look like a bunch of pigs!! It wasn't as bad until we lost our town spring clean up either.(From what I understand the Spring clean up was eliminated due tp loss of funding)I am not blaming our Mayor nor our town hall although they need to take part in a change also.They are doing the biggest majority of what needs to be done already.We as property owners and a community are responsible for the up keep in our town as well. I think Lester needs a change. We need to apply the togetherness that is already there and turn our town into something that we can be proud of!!

you know you are right.but i thibk that you can contact teh raliegh county commission.i think you can take pics. of runndown buildings and if the owner does not clean it up teh county tears it down adn cleans it up and charges the owner.so get hold of tehm and they will direct you as what to do.but good luck with everything.

Get rid of the riff raff and everything will be fine. Some people need to clean up their driveways and get rid of those old toys and clothes. Its horrible driving by homes that have junk in the yards and unkept places. The town needs to start making people fix their property.

cleaning up would be great, but i think we need a mayor who is less concerned with making money from speeding tickets and woorry more about the cleaning up the drug problem. a crack house can be seen from city hall, wild parties,drunken fight and drug deals go on there regularly. nothing is done becuase mayor tells the lester police not to bother his friends there. try calling the police in lester, you won't get a quick responding lester policeman you will have to wait for a county or state to show. thanks to our mayor's instruction all we get out of the lester police force is a speed trap. you won't get them if you need them but try going over 25 mphs.

these comments about the only thing i care about is writing tickets is untrue you need to make accurate comments about me the person making these allegations are probably people that i think are my friends that only have good things to say about me while in my presence or when they need rat poison that the give to there friends that live outside of lester the house that is beening refered as a crack house you need to ride by there and see if anybody hangs there NOW !!! my concerns in lester is for all citizen i'm doing all i can to make things better without any money remember if your government would give grants to towns that need it instead of running to Beckley everytime they need money to brick there streets we could have something here so instead of criticizing me help me make things better and you will make my job easier REMEMBER ASK ANYONE CAN YOU FIND DRUGS IN LESTER AND SEE WHAT THEY TELL YOU ALL PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT TICKETS IN LESTER REMEMBER IT COULD BE YOUR CHILD OR LOVE ONE GETTING RAN OVER

If you notice most of the time the comments are made at 3:00 A.M. They obviously need a JOB...Maybe they could volunteer to help clean up the town...To many SSI checks in this area

I don't know since you live in Fairdale. Maybe if you have friends or something in Lester they can get you some.

I agree that this town needs funding. Sam Allen is doing a great job! We just need a clean up crew like the previous poster stated though.If these malicious people would get off Topix and contact the Raleigh county commission than something productive might be done.

I will give you some the next time you stop by my house. I buy my own. I am not so broke yet that I have to borrow from my town. At least they do care about our town enough to give out free pest control products.(by the way I don't see that thread you told me about)

Yeah Sue, Beckley doesnt have riff raff, and junked up yards.

The town of Lester does have some nice homes and good people who like to take care of their homes. Not every has kitchen appliances in their front yards. And as far as the homes that need to be tore down and removed maybe the people who owns them should be responsible for doing that. Maybe the County Commission should do something about that. A couple of years ago someone dumped their trailor on one of the roads talk about an eye sore there.(by the way Sam was the one who had that removed) So he is trying to clean up around here.

Anyone heard of a shelby Jean Cline from the Lester area
