WOW-Maybe since you know some much you should go to work there. It amazes me that people can give such good advice and yet know nothing about the job and what the actual problem is. I'm am sure that if only a couple of people can get along with the boss then the problem is more than likely the boss. Yes, it it very hard to work with children. It is a very stressful job, but if you follow your lesson plans and have patience things go alot better. how would it be better now when just a couple of weeks ago there where 8 openings at this place. Maybe you are right, maybe they haven't found the right people. Are there any abused women out there who know how to keep their mouth shut and do what they are told with no questions asked who need a job? There problem solved.

When no one is can get along with the boss thats sounds like to me the boss has a personal problem. Because what I know is that a couple of years ago that was actually a decent place to work. And when the children love you that should tell you that evidently it is not the workers. They are still going through workers like flies.

I think it is the upstairs boss that won't let anything good happen there. Changes need to be made but when will that happen?

I think the reason for the turn over is that people don't realize how hard it is to work with children. They think it is easy and when they are put in a position that is challenging they can't handle it. You can correct your child the way you want to but you can't do that to other children. You are to care and educate the children you are taking care of in a caring and loving manner, if you can't you don't need to work with children. It happens in a lot of daycares. Maybe they just haven't hired the right people yet? I don't know. Another thing everyone does not get along with their bosses. You do your job to the best of your ability and if you do I should think there would be no problems but what do I know, that is just my opinion. Maybe it is better now. Hopefully.
I totally agree with you. Said well!

I totally agree. And yes it does take special people to work with children and the two bosses are where they need to start but that will never happen. They are the reason Kids Crew is in the shape it is. A lot of the old workers were good to the children and loved them like their own and the only reason they are not their is because of those two people.

I am amazed at the amount of gossip that is simply wrong information. Sure, Kids Crew could be better. But why complain about it. Get up and do something. It seems that with all the time spent on this web site gossiping about the "problem"...people could of gotten up and done something about it. It is easy to blame the teachers and administration.

Well people have tried to do something about it. As a matter of fact it has even been brought to the boards attention by a parent and nothing was done. All you want to do is cover up the problem not fix it. Many people have offered many solutions and they are not taken seriously or not taken into consideration at all. So what good does it do? If a parent can't get anything done when they take the problem to the Board of Education, which is in charge of Kids Crew then what can we do to solve the problem? Maybe you can tell us since it seems you are the one with all the answers? I can say the children are not the problem the management is so start from there...

What suggestions do you have for improving Kids Crew? It seems that firing all the management is not a feasible solution so what would you specifically like to see changed? More/less parent involvement? More/less academic/recreational activities? More/less structure?

I think you need structure more than anything and that is one thing Kids Crew does not have. And I think they need a new director who is qualified for the job and who LIKES children. And in order to work in child care you have to like children and if you can't deal with your own child or children you have no business running a Childcare Facility that involves discipline, structure, and a person who enjoys children.

Here's the deal with Kids Crew - from an inside source. First of all, yes, Kids Crew has gone through a rough year. The director left with no notice, leaving the daycare on shakey grounds. If anyone has ever worked in daycares before, you may unstand that good directors are hard to come by. It has taken about a year and three directors to finally find the right person for the job. And there are probably several upset parents out there due to the rough transition period the center has had. The transition is over now. The new director, Stephanie, has taken on the job that has been undone for the past year. There have been alot, a ton, of "cleaning up" to do, but she is getting the job done. Some of the staff had to be let go due to the fact that they were not getting with the program. And by that I mean that they were not team players, were not happy with some of the changes that were being implemented, and liked to stir up trouble and gossip. The new director only wants educated people who love working with children on payroll. Some changes had to be made and it did not settle well with some of the staff. I do know that the director takes no crap. She knows if you are there for the children or just to get a paycheck, in which case you're out. As some of you may no, making changes to a program as large as Kids Crew does not happen over night, especially with it being owned by the board of education. Everything takes time. This Stephanie has been the director now since Oct. of last year and I think she is doing a wonderful job! Ask any parent who's child attends and they will say the same. She has AAS degree and is working towards a BA in early childhood development. All of her staff are required to have or obtain a CDA within a certain time frame upon employment. There are two teachers there with BA in education already. Lead teahcers are required to turn in and post leeson plans that follow KY Core Content. The center is involved with the Stars for Kids Now Quality Rating System, which basically grades the center's overall quality. Don't let something that a discruntaled employee or angry parent has to say color your image of a center. Just my personal opinion (that is what a blog is anyway) I think Kids Crew, and their director, is awsome.

My child went to Kids Crew, my grandchild goes to Kids Crew now and I have personally seen all the changes this center has gone through in the last couple of years. It is truly amazing how far it has come since Stephanie took over as director! She is educated in childcare, knows what it takes to teach children, and is experienced in identifying problems with her staff. As I read over the above comments I could identify each staff member that has now been "axed" for various reasons just from what they are complaining about. Yes, disgruntled is the word of the day here!! But what those of you who were let go need to remember is how many chances you were given before you got that pink slip. That is the reason it has taken so long for the center to get better, she wasn't able to take the position and start eliminating the bad apples right away! But, trust me,once they got rid of the slackers and all the employees who refused to become part of an educated team, as well as the ones who hardly ever even showed up to work the place begin to improve overnight! Now it is once more a quality center!!

I work at Kids Crew and I think that it is a great place to work. Everyone is complaining about the boss but unless you were to be in her postition then you have no right to judge.

Problems - it looks to me like you are the one with the problems all right. It appears that you are having a difficult time letting go of the past and moving on with the future. Maybe you should get off your ass, away from the computer and get a life!!

hey, Kids Crew was in the paper this week - something about a trike-a-thon for cancer. Sounds to me like a nice thing to do.

You better hope that this lady doesn't read this - it sounds like you are questioning her as a mother and that is probably not going to sit well with her.

I agree with the computer thing and I also would like to say that no one got pink slips everyone I know of QUIT do you know how to spell that? Stephanie doesn't even have the authority to give someone a pink slip or a red slip or a green slip. So.... I guess you need to check your books on that one.
