Arizona Supreme Court affirms ruling barring woman from running for...

This is an interesting case.

If she's a citizen there's no excuse for barring her from the ballot.

If you can't communicate with your people, how do you preform the job.........common sense folks.

Good decision by the Court. Yes, we are a "Nation of Immigrants" with a history of English speaking public servants. There is a reason for a common language, whether "official" or not. Instead of "dumbing down" the requirements so that this woman qualifies, it's good to see that the burden is on HER to learn English instead of lowering the bar to accommodate her inadequate communication skills.

She used to be the mayors interpreter but suddenly she does not speak English well enough to run for office? Now everybody has to take an English test before they can run for office? I wonder how many other candidates were required to that that test.

If she was the mayor's interpreter, then I would "assume" that she knows both languages equally, however that appears not to be the case since this issue has been raised. So, is she deliberately playing dumb in order to create a problem, or is she really not fluent in English?

Either way, the real issue is whether our Government at any level should "dumb down" the English requirements in order to accommodate people like her, or whether people like her should raise their own personal "bar" and learn English better?

* Why not it's the IN trend to lower standards, to be politically correct, not expect anyone to be responsible for their own actions. Just recently schools in Lowndes County, Georgia students will no longer, from the 3rd through 8th grade receive a zero on any progress (report card) report. That's a prime example right there. A report card is no longer a report card, it's a progress report. A zero is longer a zero, it's a 60. The progressives are so overly concerned about psychologically scaring our youth that they've blinded themselves to the long term ramifications. Are our youth going to be prepared sufficiently for the eventuality of failure, like getting terminated from a job? Not ever having known failure tends to make one wonder how their going to react. We've already seen/witnessed, via the news, the results of what happens to some individuals whom many said seemed to be OK. They snapped for some reason, known or unknown, violence at the work place, with many dead. So lets continue to ill-prepare the youth of today for tomorrows cut throat real world.
