Matt Denmark was my brother. I loved him with my mind body and soul. The third part of the trinity. He would never do any person any harm and always was true to every person he met. A great man, An Amazing Friend, and a hard worker at everything he did. I give my condolences to his family who helped him greatly in his time of need, took him in when he was little and raised him good, even in their differences they never turned their back on him or any of his friends. I love the Denmark's like my own family. and in closing I would like to say Hailz Brother! You got your Kingdom now! Your fought hard and unfortunately got nailed to the cross in a way we never would have expected the Great Lord Nefarious to go Down. Your legacy will live on in us brother, and your music will never die. Your lyrics will be heard!
Hailz

4 people falling asleep in a car sounds a little odd to me. Especially at 18 years old.
How sad for this young man to die so young. But another reminder to wear your seatbelt!

I was just hanging with Matt at Popeye's bar on Thursday night. I really liked him, and we had a great time. He seemed like a really genuine person, someone you could count on....
I only knew him for a few hours, but it felt as if I had known him an entire lifetime.
This news, especially on my birthday...is almost unfathomable. It also shows just how precious and short life really is.
Glad I got to know you Matt.
Sincerely,
Justin D.

Unfortunately Matt wasn't in the car or he probably would be still alive, he got hit by the car.

i knew matt in high school and he taught me a lot about people. he showed me that you should never judge people before you get to know them. he was one of the most genuine guys i've ever met, and he was such a strong person. he stood by his beliefs no matter what. i envied his individuality. he will be missed by all who knew him.

In New Jersey falling asleep while driving is treated in the same manner as a DUI. Does NY do this as well? If not they should. I have read a few articles about this and the reports tell driving while asleep is actually more dangerous than DUI. I cant help but assume the kids were all high or drunk. I just dont think they fell asleep. It seems like they are covering up something. No matter what the driver will at least be found guilty of negligent homicide and thats a class D felony and he could serve up to 5 years for that and many years of probation after he is released from prison, Then of course he will be paying for this for the rest of his life when he loses in the civil tril that will likely follow.

Just how soundly are you sleeping that you aren't aware you've just struck a boat, several vehicles and a guard rail then traveling some distance and killing an innocent pedestrian? I'm sure alcohol and/or drugs were involved. Nice.

I think in NY it's called "driving while impaired" and is treated as seriously as dui.

to all of you saying they were stoned or drunk, your all wrong. i know corey, hes a really good kid. He didnt mean for that to happen. It was 4 in the morning, it kinda does make sence that he fell asleep. plus what is that kid walking around the streets at 3:50-4 AM? dont blame and point fingers. it was an accident, an unfortinute one, RIP.

you cant be serious. even if the walker was drunk, if the boys had been walking no one would have been hurt. sleeping? even if the driver was a "good kid" theres no way 4 18yr old boys out on a friday night were just tired.

So you are saying Matt should not have been walking but it was ok for Corey to be driving at that time? Even though as you put it "It was 4 in the morning, it kinda does make sence that he fell asleep" If it made that much sense why was he driving at that hour?
Matt was a great person! I enjoyed every moment I had the pleasure of spending with him. I enjoyed talking with him for hours, working with him and seeing all his acts of kindness! He was one of a kind and the world is going to be a much sadder place without him!

The answer to your question is VERY simple. He lived across the street, not two minutes away from the accident.
