"At various points while troopers were arresting Mayo, he kicked a trooper in the leg, gave the same trooper a "shoulder block," then, once placed in a patrol car, he began kicking the car's dashboard and passenger door, police said."
Various points probably means as 4 troopers were jacking this guy around, kneeling on the back of his neck with his face pushed into the pavement, he fought back and was still P'O'd when they launched him into the car.
"To keep him from damaging the car or hurting himself, the officers wrapped duct tape around Mayo's legs. When they tried to place Mayo back in the car, he spit in a trooper's face, police said. Mayo was then pulled from the car and sprayed with pepper spray."
He's cuffed and duct taped as they jacked him around again and has a little fun with him again on the pavement. With no appendages to use to stop the abuse, his mouth is all he has. So they pull him out of the cruiser, again intoduce him to the pavement and now that he's all trussed up, give him a good pepper spray shower. That'll teach him.
"Firefighters responded to decontaminate Mayo and the trooper. Troopers then placed a "mouth/spit mask" on Mayo and took him to the state police barracks in Tolland. Once there, police said, Mayo became belligerent and was hit with the Taser."
So, now, you have him all trussed up with a Hannibal Lector mask, duct taped, cuffed and still very angry about being stomped by who knows how many Troopers. He can only mumble his indignation. So, inside the Gulag, away from prying eyes, you taser him and watch him flip around on the floor as you enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee. A great day's work. That's what I read in this article.
This guy should be playing for the Oakland Raiders.

That's how I was reading it too, though also thinking how much the cop union lawyers must have freaked out while reading it!

Last time I checked, 24 years old qualifies you as a full grown adult responsible for everything you do.

A 24 year-old person is NOT A KID. It doesn't matter how stupid he acts.

Yes, I have. I also know a lot about the Police mentality. My position was such that I was in the midst of Police inner activity and heard real horror stories about the "azz kickin" that was just administered and the ensuing laughter. As I said, it's more prevalant than you think. You only see the facade put up to hide that stuff. There is really a Code of Silence. This Judge did the right thing. He smelled something and it wasn't the truth.
I guess you were'nt in the inner-inner activity or you would have seen a lot of behaviors that conclude with mace sprays or tasering. Some people are so out of control that cuffs (and duck-taped legs?!) won't hinder them much.He could have repositioned and still been able to kick the windows out. Spitting in your face? I don't think you would appreciate that. We all know that there are cops who shouldn't be on the job, but most are pretty forthright. It's getting harder and harder to deal with these jerks, and the majority of officers do it pretty well. You try it for a while-won't be long before you're burned out. Nope, I'm not a cop, or married to one, but I am in the inner-inner place.

I suspect you may be or were a dispatcher, if not a Cop. What you see is how they act when they're brought in. Sure, they've just been pounded on and are quite angry. My reference is to the actual arrest and extra steps taken to "teach" them a lesson. One quick example...I went to a domestic spat btw a man & woman. He was intoxicated with his supper thrown all over the wall. I spent 10 minutes trying to talk him into going down the station because the wife wanted him out. Eventually we had to forcibly remove him. Whe we got to the station, the Desk Sargeant said I should have just cracked his head and dragged him out of there. I took too long. My thoughts were, "we're taking this guy out of his home in front of his wife who didn't want him arrested, just get him out". We did remove him, without cracking his head. Now, we were filling in because of an annual Ball. That's just one small incident amongst many where the the solutions were similar. I have also rode with "regulars". Excessive force because they are allowed to and very short fuses. Again, MHO.

First off, don't ever admit anything when you get pulled over or arrested. Kids let this be a lesson. Let the cops do their job and determine what your on. By admitting anything, it's admitting guilt. Keep the Lips Shut.
