And it's only going to get worse - my prediction is that gas will be $5 a gallon by next Memorial Day. We need to cut our dependance on oil, period. Not cut back or down but altogether - the technology is there we just need a President that doesn't have Oil Companies in his back pocket. Remember JFK said that we'll put a man on moon in 10 years and guess what - we did it in 9. Why isn't anyone talking about peak oil? The earth is running out of oil. Wake Up People!

I heard one analyst predict $8-$10 a gallon by October of THIS YEAR! I'll be better off quitting my job and collecting welfare and getting free food from WIC.

I agree with Upper Mac Mom. Another problem is oil speculators who drive up the price way beyond supply and demand. In the short term we can each do our best to conserve. In the long run we need to do more with solar, wind, geothermal and other forms of energy.

Well, that analyst is NOT living in reality. NO WAY will the gas get to be THAT expensive this year. They are just instilling fear into people.
$5, yeah...$8-$10? No way.

From Thursday's Wall Street Journal:

"The world's premier energy monitor is preparing a sharp downward revision of its oil-supply forecast, a shift that reflects deepening pessimism over whether oil companies can keep abreast of booming demand. The Paris-based International Energy Agency is in the middle of its first attempt to comprehensively assess the condition of the world's top 400 oil fields. Its findings won't be released until November, but the bottom line is already clear: Future crude supplies could be far tighter than previously thought."

Bottom line: Gas at $6-7/gallon next year.

That inflated bubble will burst too. It's only a matter of time. When people can't aford it anymore the price has to come down. It's all greed not supply. Whatever the scam, it really sucks!

the earth is Not running out of oil, we have enough in America for 100s of years if the enviromentalist wackos would let us drill. The Dems said they would make the prices go sown when they took over. What Happened?

Whenever some of us would get on any posting media, occasionally the topic would turn to why folks were buying big gas guzzling SUV's. The usual response back from more than a few was tantamount to "shut the ef up" or some rude similar variant.

Had enough of your own stupidity? You do have the freedom to be stupid all by your lonesome here in the good ole US of A.

Who's mocking the Prius and other econo box drivers now?

If you are not complaining then, for you, the higher gas prices are simply not an issue.

The whole situation is enough to make one pitch a Honda Fit... doh!

I agree! Want to never have to worry about gas prices? Go to college and get a real job--one that rewards hard-working employees with their own company car.

I have not paid a single dime for gas, or insurance, or maintenance, or car washes, or even the air in my tires, in well over 15 years. And, every April, I get to choose my very own, brand new car.

This summer, as we do every year, my family and I will be driving to Disney...in the new company car. This is totally allowed, and even encouraged, by my employer.

What high gas prices? I could care less if gas is $20/gallon.

All of this is due from a lack of a solid National Energy Policy. All of the presidents (and their administration) are to be blamed for this. If the country was "ran" by engineers (and NOT lawyers) we would not have this problem.
