Mr. Martinez is geographically challenged; San Antonio NM is at least 80 miles from Albuquerque. Near Socorro, yes; Albuquerque? No. Look at a map, folks, don't just copy the Food Network press releases. Seriously though...good for Mr. Olguin's establishment. A green chile cheeseburger is always the best elixir for what ails you. Flay never wins in Buffalo, the South, or wherever he goes, and I bet he doesn't win here either. I always eat at the Owl Bar when I stop in San Antonio, but one of these times I'll have to deviate from the normal routine. San Antonio remains one of the best little towns in America in which to take a pit stop - that's part of the story here.

1 The monster, big and greasy, nobody in N.M. know how to cook, just look at the enchilads they are flat, blue corn, who eats that crap. Heck El Paso has the best mexican food, look at all the slim mexicans. |

The Buckhorn burger is out of this world. The best I have sinked my teeth into. I was so hungry when we left Santa Fe to go back home to La Union. My husband said to wait to eat at the Buckhorn in San Antonio because it would be worth the wait. Boy was he right. The Buckhorn burger had it all right, from the juicy but not greasy large shaped patty assembled at the top with generous portion of green chile and all the fixin's in the bottom. This burger comes highly recommend!

1 I've never even heard of Frisco's Restaurant (?); how about a reference for the rest of us, Burger King? And have some green sauce on your Chico's Taco while you're complaining about New Mexico cuisine. I eat that flat blue corn crap; beats everything else, hands down. Texas and occupied New Mexico, er, I mean, El Paso can't make real good green chile. "Tex-Mex"? Please. My recent visit to Austin confirmed that fact. Oh, and, I hope that El Paso Community College degree is taking you where you want to go. It obviously has made you a great grammarian - it's spelled "enchiladas" and the word "Mexican" is capitalized. Hire a proofreader, big shot. |

burger king is way off.
Enchiladas have always been flat. It was not until the 50's when hot dishes became popular that you saw them rolled. New Mexico cuisine is not tex mex, has much more tradition and flavor with the chile, red or green, featured. diander: traveling I 25 just south of Socorro exit 380 and go east a few blocks ( it turns into 2nd st). The small town of San Antonio awaits and the Buckhorn will be on your left. Farther South on I 25 you will find the quaint village of Hatch, World famous for it's chile farms. There you can stock up ! Enjoy ! |
