It's a shame the officers had to resort to it. But I bet the little brat will do what she's told by the police to do something next time without pitching a fit like a two year old.

I guess when you're put in their situation you'll do what you have to do. It's easy to say that when you're not put in the police officers position.

We need to teach children how to respect authority. There are some serious issues with this young lady.

If we don't start holding these out of control children responsible and accountable for their actions, we are going to have out of control adults who feel the law is not for them. Oh yea, we already do.

Hey, where were the parents??? This is a problem. I think this little girl needs a parent! I was dressed up and walking behind my 14 year old and told them they could not go without a parent. This is why they still call them children. Parents wake up and take responsibility. My son didn't like the idea of me going at first, but I told him it was either that way, or stay home and hand candy out. Good for the Police. These little brats need to learn some respect for the law or this wouldn't have happened. Thanks to the men in blue for risking there lives day in, day out for idiots like this little ____.

I agree the girl needs some discipline but was tasing her really necessary?? I am pretty sure adult , male, train cop could subdue a 14 year old without tasing her. Well unless she was huge, then I totally understand.

Excessive force? What? I would like to know where this girls parents were. Apparently there is not enough discipline in the home.

You are probably right, but if the parents tried to discipline her they would probably be charged with child abuse...it is a no win situation

there is something very wrong with this girl. i'm a 40-year-old woman and i wouldn't have the guts to curse and certainly not try to punch an officer.

she got what was coming to her. should taser the parents, too.

...a little more.

Sometimes the way to change an action is not to pull out your badge and say stop cursing in the name of the law. It would of been much more effective to talk and joke with the kids a little bit, ask them how their night was going and maybe pull her aside or just explain to the whole why it's not a good idea to use bad language in front of little kids. You have gained their confidence a little, put a person behind the uniform and they will be more receptive to what you have to say.

On the news it shows this girls as being Black. Police need to be sensitive to all cultures as well as defiant young age groups and understand how some will relate differently to you because of your uniform. Adaption is sometimes necessary to diffuse a situation. Thats called good community policing in my book.

After she swung on him I can't defend her although whatever they did before the taser guns they could of done then.

It sounds like the officer gave her the benefit of the doubt and tried reasoning with her several times, but common sense should always prevail; "You can't strike a Police Officer".

I guess her parents (or possibly her parent) never impressed this basic rule upon her.

Don't blame the foster mother, in this case she took on a girl who was already troubled. We used to take fosters and they are some of the most troubled people. I feel sorry for this girl and what her life must be like to be in the foster system, and the anger she must have, but that is no excuse to act the way she did. A lot of times fosters will act out to see what they can get away with, even trying to get moved to another foster home because they don't want to get used to any sort of security, having never had it before and are scared of it.

§ 16-11-39. Disorderly conduct

(a) A person commits the offense of disorderly conduct when such person commits any of the following:

(1) Acts in a violent or tumultuous manner toward another person whereby such person is placed in reasonable fear of the safety of such person's life, limb, or health;

(2) Acts in a violent or tumultuous manner toward another person whereby the property of such person is placed in danger of being damaged or destroyed;

(3) Without provocation, uses to or of another person in such other person's presence, opprobrious or abusive words which by their very utterance tend to incite to an immediate breach of the peace, that is to say, words which as a matter of common knowledge and under ordinary circumstances will, when used to or of another person in such other person's presence, naturally tend to provoke violent resentment, that is, words commonly called "fighting words"; or

(4) Without provocation, uses obscene and vulgar or profane language in the presence of or by telephone to a person under the age of 14 years which threatens an immediate breach of the peace.

The officer was justified with stopping her I beleive even by grabbing her arm as she tried to walk away..

It is nice to see an officer doing the right thing. When I was out trick or treating with my young children...there were teens out of control. Several of them had their parents with them and thought they were funny cursing up and down the street. Many teens feel that they have the RIGHT to do anything...They don't.
