I am not very happy with the school right now but I am keeping faith that it will make a turn for the better, SOON!

Interesting story, but that last sentence is a non sequitur. Kids who for the most part are from poor families and who aren't doing well in school try something new. That's a problem or somehow constricting the choice of others?

I wanted to get my child into a branch of this charter school which also opened this year...I was told that I should have registered my child last year and the waiting list is VERY long, so better luck next year. I feel so helpless not being able to afford private school for my child and having to accept whatever issues and problems come with having my child in public school.

It's too bad that Mr. McNabb and the rest of the city council don't worry about what's going on in the public schools either.

It's interesting that Dr. Flenory makes that comment that parents should have the choice. Imagine Schools which is the owner of the International Academy of Smyrna and Kennesaw Charter School have refused to service our Special Needs child. Therefore sending us back to a regular Public School. I had the choice you're right Dr. Flenory, but Imagine Schools denied me that right.

I think that Charter Schools are great however I've not been at all impressed by
the one in Kennesaw. They seem to think that they can write their own agenda and not abide by the district, state or federal rules.

My child has really struggled this year at this school, mainly due to the difficulty in school work verses what he did in a local Smyrna elementary school last year. Much of the "review" work was new material for him, but based on the children's IOWA test scores, any child with poor scores was recommended for remediation during the break in October. They also will be making changes in the classroom based on test scores, so I look forward to the additional help my child needs.....

I have recently moved to the vinings area from Kennesaw and was thinking of putting my daughter in this school. So for those of you who already have children attending this school, would you recommend it to other parents.

thanks

Stay away from any IMAGINE school! They have no clue what they are doing! The staff turn around and number of withdrawals will prove that! I had to hire a private tutor to bring my child back up to speed after leaving IIAS!

Daily Horoscope for January 3

Cancer

No one can accuse you of being a wallflower today! The modern cowboy or cowgirl has a tendency to shoot from the lip and you won't be afraid to tell it like it is. Your response will be quick, and your timing near perfect. If you don't accomplish what you set out to do this morning by the end of the day, it won't be for lack of trying. Getting an 'A' for effort is sometimes better than facing the test.
