FIRED. It sucks, but that's the way the cookie crumbles, Kossi Gamedah (the district manager) and Treva Ford (the loss prevention manager) is gonna have that boys head for having a gun and not being a victim. I've had the cold steel pressed to my throat and head before on more than one occasion and it's no fun at all.
I too have experiences having a gun shoved in my face and other places and threatened. There is no greater fear as a woman, and I would imagine a man too. Once that happens to you, it changes you. Try dealing w/your house being robbed 2x and constant people watching your home, car, kids. It will change your perspective. YES we choose to live with it, we don't have to PUT UP with it. And yes, it has made a difference.

Bleeding libs, LIVE it THEN you have the right to CRY ABOUT IT.

Because of what has happened to me, you bet your ASS I am now armed and dangerous. NOT a position I would have been in before all this. It just changes everything.

I would give the AutoZone guy a job anyday and be proud of it. The idiots that might fire him are just that. I will never go there again if he gets fired, those guys are great. It's 2 blocks from me.

Happy 5th??

WTF? If he had a mother that taught him NOT TO GO TO A PARKIING LOT AND PUT ON A MASK TO ROB A STORE then it would have never happened.

Geez, I guess you can blame another one on "the man".
Pull up your pants and act like humans. Good God.

No, the guys putting on mask were doing nothing wrong, they were just trick or treating huh...get real. The robbery wasnt wrong, just the citizen protecting himself was wrong. Oh by the way how do you know that person was shot in the back?? Are you privey to investigation information? Doubt it. Just blabbing away in knee jerk formation.
I think he should be promoted to store manager!

True company policies commonly prohibit weapons at work places...too bad he will lose his job. Maybe some citizen out there will read this and give him a job. GOOD JOB DERRICK. that guy wont rob anyone else...thats for sure!

I have not heard that the perp was shot in the back anywhere. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but it is funny how EVERYTIME a perp is shot, someone claims they were shot in the back while they were just trying to get away. Give me a break... not EVERYBODY is shot in the back. And even if someone is shot in the back, it doesn't mean the threat to the innocent people is gone. It doesn't mean their lives aren't in jeopardy. How do you know he's "running away?" You know people can still shoot at you while they are running away from you. I can point my hand at someone standing behind me. So can you! So can someone with a gun! And how do you know the perp is running to get away? Maybe he's just running to get behind a tree or a pile of wood so he can shoot at you from behind a position of cover. Cops and military people are taught to seek cover when they see a threat.

I'm sick of people giving the benefit of doubt to the piece of crap criminal element. How dare anyone second guess this employee who was just trying to protect his life and the lives of those around him?!

I watched the cops chase two robbers on the news yesterday, one was white and the other black and they both were trying to run holding up their saggy pants, what a hoot. These guys are born into the projects, drop out of school and have no jobs available, so this type of problem is going to get much worse as these young people continue to have children with out jobs. This is why the state government is allowing people to defend themselves and rightly so. You will think twice about robbing a store if there is a chance that 1 in 4 customers are packing heat, same goes for car jackings etc... They just let that guy in Texas off the hook for shooting the two illegal alien burglars, the district attorney knew he would never get a guilty plea and most likely would lose the next election; people are tired of being beaten, robbed and molested.

From your comments I can tell you have never been robbed or had a gun put to your head, well I have you to know that at that autozone it has happened to them more than you could count on two hands and that is only for the month of June, at some point you get tired of being scared and you have to protect yourself some kind of way, I'm sure he did not mean to kill the guy, I'm sure he has a lot to deal with because of his actions, jail is not always the answer. Let me know how you would feel if someone put a gun to your head or throat two or three times in a week or month.

First of all whom ever wants to blame the mother blame your mother for letting something like that come out of your mouth. SUCKER! I dont think he had a right to kill anyone. If you saw them putting on their gear then why not go and lock the damn doors and call the police? My prayers goes out to this family for your lost and may GOD watch over you in your time of need. And may GOD watch over the stupid MF's who wants to congratulate the killer/employee.

Can Girl From Dec, we don't need your ghetto opinion here, thank you! Did you even read anything posted here before you spouted off your ignorant, ghetto opinion? If you saw someone outside of your house with masks and guns, would you run, get your keys, then RUN TOWARDS THEM so you could try to put a key in the lock? Do you think about stuff like that? Or do you just automatically sympathize with the dead ghetto trash like yourself? This dead guy is an idiot. You're obviously from the same stock as him.

Koons convicted of a felony should only be permitted to wear a loin cloth in public. This will keep 90% percent of the (male) population confined to their cribs during winter.

Good
If you rob and steal you should pay the price. Why should our tax dollars have to pay for the defence and boarding of idiots who don't care about anyone else's rights. Good Shooting. If you come with deadly force you should be met with deadly force. Maybe some of the robbing and stealing will stop

You got that right !!! I'm glad us tax payers wont have to foot the bill in keeping this thug up in jail waiting for court. Thats the way justice should be conducted. That way these criminals might think twice in acting out their criminal ways.

It is with great distress and anger that I attempt to respond to some of the comments and perspectives that have been shared on this forum. As a close family member to the young man who lost his life on Friday and a victim of robbery, I understand how those on both sides of such an issue may feel. My distress arises from the unfortunate reality that in our society a person may be called on to defend their life at a moments notice, regardless of whether or not they may have instigated a sequence of events causing them to be in such a position. It’s also distressing to know that I attempted to be a positive influence in the life of the young man that was shot, yet certain actions that he took resulted in his life ending prematurely. At the end of the day, every person, no matter the consequences or peer pressure involved, is responsible for their own actions. Because of the value I place on my own life and the life of others, I can understand why, when felt threatened, the employee of AutoZone decided to open fire on the two suspects. And because I, nor anyone else who made comments on this post were actually at the scene of the crime to know exactly what happened, I will digress from attributing blame to any one person for the end result of the events that occurred on Friday because only those involved know what really happened. And if my relative was truly in the wrong, then he received the most costly possible consequence of his actions – the loss of his life. My anger, however, emanates from yet another unfortunate reality, which is to say there are many of us who still believe that all crime is caused by those raised in projects and sub-standard living conditions. The young man involved in the shooting grew up in a middle class home with a mother concerned about and involved in his life. No attacks should be made against her character or ability to raise her child solely because of her son’s actions. Though this may not change many of your opinions, she has another child who I believe would be judged as being successful by society’s standards. Given the best guidance and support, we are all, as stated earlier, responsible for our own actions. For those of you with or without children who don’t find yourselves living in the “ghetto,” I would encourage you to be more concerned about the daily impact that you make on the life of your child and those that they associate with and nothing more if you are not prepared to offer constructive suggestions, time, and resources to help those who find themselves, by no fault of their own, being raised in a climate centered on their destruction. In order to be constructive and effective, we must be able to focus on the core of our problems as opposed to the symptoms alone. By the time a young man or woman is at the point of robbing or endangering someone else, the “disease” motivating his or her actions has already run its course. This is not to stay that they can’t be helped, but the chances of successfully affecting their mindset will be diminished. The threat of death has not been and will never be the ultimate solution for deterring crime or restoring our world. Because of this my anger was further fueled upon reading that one of you “hope more and more stories turn out like this” and others shared the same sentiment. If this truly is your hope, then you are not concerned with identifying and erasing the roots of the problems in our society and we will continue on a path to self-destruction because crimes will continue to be committed and the number of deaths resulting from them will continue to escalate.

(Continued from last post) Though I haven’t fully expressed my full opinions on this and other related situations, my primary belief is that until all people are able to value the lives of others, and realize that their life is just as valuable as and vastly more important than anything we can be offered in this world, we will continue to violate the sanctity of human life in our attempts to trade it for temporary fulfillment. For what it’s worth to any of you, I pray my comments will help someone believe that this world doesn’t have to remain in its present state if we seek to help one another as opposed to destroying each other by verbal, economic, or physical means.

Decent people don't rob others at gun point. I'm sick of the glorified thug culture that is celebrated in "The ATL." I'm sick of "The ATL." I'm sick of thugs running wild. This is the result of bad parenting, period. Parents who are constantly involved in their kids' lives, who don't let their kids roam the streets to all hours of the night, parents who don't let their kids hang out with the bad element don't find themselves with kids doing this kind of stuff.

This perp is dead. Good. We don't need people like him in this world.
