Charges filed in shooting

This "site" is becoming a dumping ground for whosoever wants to put in there 2 cents. Many people are more concerned with getting their point across in a hurtful maneer rather than productive manner. This has gotten out of hand.

This is America, or did you forget. A person has a right to say what they want! I don't think anything in these comments will set the tone in the courtroom. Most times people say what is on their minds and hearts. Let it be!

Murder is not a topic most people want to talk about, but this happened to be a black man murdering a white man. That's probably why the topic is so intense. People have a tendency to want to discuss topics such as this. This would not have been discussed if it were the 1960's in the state of Mississippi or any other southern state. All that has changed now for the moment....anyway.

So, what's going on with this trial thing? Has there been a conviction yet? What's up!

There was a preliminary hearing July 9, 2008. This was requested by gilmer-he had previously waived this hearing- and backed by his current-hopefully, last of five attorneys- attorney.

This hearing was to formally decide if there was enough evidence to hold gilmer with the charges against him.

It is my understanding that there will be an arraignment Thurs. to charge him. All the delays to date have been at the request of gilmer and his attorneys. It is now pretty much up to him to say when he is ready to be tried. The D.A.'s office and the Harrell family are truely ready to get this done with.

Why the emphasis on Williams being black?

I don't know about Williams, but gilmer is obsessesd about being an intitled black. He pulled the race card on the wrong white family though. The man he murdered and his family never put up with weak excuses like skin color for bad behavior.

You're right! had Gilmer killed a black man he would probably be walking around a free-man, because the courts don't care about black-on-black crimes. I think when it all boils down Gilmer will not get the 1st degree murder charge as stated.

Yeah right!!!! What world do you live in? Gilmer is GUILTY of 1st degree murder!!!! He will go to prison where he belongs for the rest of his life!!!!

Don't be so sure of that. There has to be a trial, he innocent until proven guilty.
