Water causing flood to Charles Court can't be diverted

Here we are reading about high groundwater levels, and Steve Levy wants to build "worker housing" in the Caimen River WATERSHED.

Condem the houses and make it county park land. Sure would be cheaper than pumping it over to the Connetquot River. Hey isn't this what 1/4% environmental tax we pay was supposed to be used for? Oh, no thats right - it pays for things like to support the 'Group for the South Fork' now that Christy Brinkley has left them and they are broke. I have done much research and have obtained crucial geological information from a specialist; your community was probably part of the wetlands many many years ago. In order to build there the land was filled in to hide the water by our local government and/or builders. There were many years of drought and as years passed and with the heavy rains and in conjunction with global warming sea level has risen. Therefore the water around long island has risen too.
This is now causing the high water table in the lowest elevated areas on Long Island. The most frightening part is that this high water table is now being considered the low by some specialists. Think about it the water has not receded in 2 years without reason. You should ask your local politicians to do some real studies and not taxing all of the residents for useless information they will profit from. I found this out on my own Anyone on Long Island may soon be victims - this is frightening.

Steve Levy and the Democrats have sold off all of the dredging equiptment to private vendors.

Make the politicians live there until they can come up with solution they will come up with something really fast.

It's time Long Islander's help out fellow Long Islander's. The Town of Smithtown, Suffolk County, or New York State needs to purchase these houses and turn the land back into a wildlife drainage.
This has been going on since 2005, enough is enough! Stop wasting tax payers dollars!

More like find out what the town is doing to help it's "rich" residents at your expense you mean.

When these folks bought their homes they had no idea that the Town of Smithtown would be diverting the sormdrains of Rich neighborhoods into their backt=yards.

Excuse me, they did know about it. I knew about it when I sold my house to them. Why do you think they got such a good deal on the price. Now, they decide, hey, what the heck, lets be like the local politicians and steal the taxpayers money too! Screw them, let'm drown in thier mistake!!!

How about just dredging the area north of Portion Rd. Take out the dirt, it filles up with water and the water level o nthe outside goes done. Simple solution to a problem.

The dirt removed can then be dried out and be used to raise the land in other low lying areas.

This county spends millions and millions of dollars every year on open space preservation buying up property all over the county under the guise of protecting the groundwater. Why can't the funds be used to buy these people out? Their problems exist because of the groundwater. Removing the residents from the problem will protect the new groundwater level in this area. When the water recedes, the land formerly occupied by the residences will be part of the Suffolk County park that exists there.

It is a natural basin that will always be subject to flooding and standing water. The cost to keep this area dry by human intervention is not worth the value of the housing there. The town should declare it a disaster area, pay off the owners, and turn it into a nature preserve.

The Bavarian Inn is disgusting!! Then you have that white trash bar Parsnips. UGH! Who hangs out in that dump anyway!?!?! Its gross! Talk about the ultimate collaboration of low class. What a total eye sore and then you have to pass those other neauseating broken down trailer homes. That whole stretch should be torn down and just make it part of the park that is already there.

Give it time and it will be you with the groundwater problem, it's happening all over the island, slowly but surely.
