Athletes, band members, cheerleaders, parents, staff, alumni, and other volunteers have always done their best to support the football program at Marysville.
It is Mark Caza who has not done his job as a high school football coach.
It is Mark Caza who was not capable of carrying the torch. It is Mark Caza who was not willing to accept support from all of those wonderful resources.
People in Marysville are very intelligent. It didn’t take people long to realize that Caza was not doing his job. People quickly realized that Caza was a poor leader who they did not want to follow.
When a high-school head football coach decides that he is not willing to accept support from people in the community, it is an act of stupid arrogance, particularly stupid because Caza had not done anything at all to be arrogant about. Caza thought that he was too good to do his job.
For example, even though the Marysville High School website GUARANTEES that all emails written to employees listed on the website (including Caza) will be answered, Caza decided not to answer people who offered help to him. That means Caza was literally not doing his job. Caza literally thought that he was on the same level as a division-1 Football Coach, or the Pope. Caza thought that he was too good to write back to people in the community.
In reality, Caza wasn’t on the same level as the Pope. In reality, Caza was on the same level as a local church Pastor who is supposed to do his job by writing back to people in the community. In reality, Caza wasn’t on the same level as a division-1 football coach. In reality, Caza was a high-school football coach who is supposed to do his job by writing back to people in the community.
Caza didn’t do his job, not only in that area, but in many others. These facts of Caza’s irresponsibility reveal themselves on the football field! Reasons like that are why people of all ages in the Marysville community don’t want to be around Caza in any way!
As a result of Caza’s poor leadership, the athletes, students, band members, cheerleaders, parents, staff, alumni, and other volunteers no longer want to be a part of Marysville football at all.
Being a part of Marysville football with Caza as head football coach would practically be like being a part of the Taliban with Osama Bin Laden as the leader. Caza is a poor leader who doesn’t do the jobs that he is required to do; he is lazy, ignorant, and stupid. That's why kids, parents, and everyone else don't want to be around the football program as long as Caza is a part of it.
The offense that Caza endorses only scored 63 points during the entire 2007 season! Reasons like that are why people here say,“Caza couldn’t lead ants to a picnic.”

Steve wrote: Nobody is irresponsibly blaming "somebody else" for "our" shortcomings. In fact, quite the opposite has occurred: Everybody is very responsibly holding “Mark Caza” accountable for “his” consistent failure as a football coach.
Even the Times Herald wrote an article saying that Caza is the worst football coach Marysville has employed, as far back as their entire statistic records go to the mid 1950’s. The article even talked about how Marysville football teams coached by Caza have been in a “constant” state of decline, since he became coach.
The Times Herald specifically said that Caza is the football coach who caused the Viking football program to “hit rock bottom.” I definitely agree with Steve! Caza has Caza to blame, and nobody else! If Caza wants to show some responsibility to the kids, let him resign and show the kids that he is willing to do what is best for the team by letting a new coach take over. Lord knows you couldn't do any worse than Caza as a football coach! Even the Times Herald confirmed that fact!

Fans, the season hasn't started yet. It isn't too late for Caza to set a good example for the kids by resigning. I still have hope that Caza will resign and show the kids that he isn't selfish.

This better be Caza's last season as coach!
Nobody respects Caza. Get rid of that guy!
At this point the Marysville Athletic Director, Principal, and Superintendent are just as much to blame for the poor program as that stupid coach Caza is. They should have fired Caza at the end of 2007.
Get that loser out of the football program! He's influenced the lives of enough people in negative ways! Get a good leader in their!
And Farnsworth, do things right this time, will ya! Cut the crap where you hire the youngest guy so that 50 years from now Marysville might have the winningest coach again. Just do what other schools do and hire someone with a lot of experience, with a proven track record.

In my opinion, Mark Caza is definitely the worst coach in Marysville history, in any sport. I'm an old-timer, and I just recently learned how to use the Internet. I've watched Marysville sports since I moved to town over sixty-two years ago. No other coach has brought such disappointment to students, players, teachers, parents, and fans. I'm not going to watch the games this year, because it's too stressful, frustrating and disappointing with Mark Caza as coach of the football team.

OK-
Most people here are in agreement that he is not good at all so far. Here's a question just for interesting conversation. What are the top 5-10 coaches that have ever coached in Marysville in any sport at any level? Here's my list to start. There may be others I'm not remembering, so let me know what you guys think.
1. Walt Braun--Football (266 wins, 57 losses, and 2 state chapmpionships while with Marysville, 300 career wins overall). Nationally recognized coach.
2. John Knuth--Volleyball and a lot of other sports at various levels (1,086-74-34 and 9 state championships). His numbers are more staggering than Coach Braun's, but I think Coach Braun still gets my nod. It's a tough call. It would have been nice to see what Coach Knuth could have done with a high profile sport like football. We'll never know. He has had a great career and is a nationally-known coach in his own right in his own sport.
3. Paul Jackson--Basketball--I don't have numbers, but I know he was a great coach. Very positive guy that was well respected by a lot of people.
4. Bob Sullivan--Football. Great coach from 1955-64. Really started the great Viking football tradition and Coach Braun carried it to the next level. Had a record of 60-15-5 during that period.
5. Coach Jim Venia--Great defensive coordinator and excellent softball coach who won a state championship with the lady Vikings in 1983.
I'm sure there are others that are deserving to be on the list if it was expanded. There are probably some coaches that didn't even coach varsity that belong on this list. What do you guys think?

I am not sure if I am the only one to have posted on this forum who has actually played for Mark Caza. But I can certainly give people an explaination for why the Marysville teams acrossed the board have slipped in the last couple of years. It all started with the coaches and parents not pushing the kids to come in work for what they believed in. The parents and coaches of the students of Marysville Schools have instilled in their children at a young age that if you go to Marysville you will be a champion. That is simply not the case. If the parents want to see change in the Marysville Football Program and others that arent up to par with everyone else's programs they need to get there kids up to speed with work outs and doing the right things on the field and off the field. Perhaps when the teammates are out drinking beer between summer practices Parents would get there heads out of their butts and do something about it and not say oh not my Johnny, He wouldnt do that. Winning needs be be won at home and supported through the right coaching staff. But for the tables to back around. The Marysville Football Coaching staff needs to come out and admit the crap that has gone on in the past and they know what it was. But untill they do that and the people that need to get applogized too for the wrong they have caused individuals on the team, I truly believe that the Marysville Viking Football Team will not win another game of any importance, and quite frankly I dont want them too.

|
I played for Caza.
I can tell you a few things that agree with the most recent comments people have made.
First, Caza has no leadership ability at all.
Second, Caza is completely irresponsible; he doesn't do his job.
Third, Caza is lazy; that's why when he does decide to do something it is completely half-assed.
Fourth, Caza doesn't have a desire to work with people in the community, such as parents. That's why young kids in Marysville are no longer raised to be winners at such a young age. Parents' can tell their kids to do what their coaches say all they want, but Caza doesn't give kids quality instructions that apply to situations on the field and off the field.
When I grew up, guys like Braun, Knuth, and Collard would give the kids great advice. Braun had implemented quality programs for the parents to get the kids involved with the coaches. But Caza is such a rude and arrogant loser that the kids and parents don't want to be involved with Caza or anything that he is a part of.
At this point, parents want to do what is best for the football team and football program by firing Caza (or having him resign) and replacing Caza with an experienced coach that has a record of winning.
Parents (including my parents) also want to make sure that the coach who replaces Caza is a leader both on the field and off the field, during football season and during the off-season.
When that happens, the Marysville football program will recover, because the TRADITION of quality leadership that teaches players lessons in life that apply to all areas of life will be restored!
The thing that truly ended the Marysville football dynasty was not just the fact that Caza is a person who no skill as a football coach. The thing that truly ended the Marysville football dynasty was that Caza ended the TRADITION of teaching kids lessons of moral leadership that they can apply on the field and off the field, for the rest of their lives!
My friends and I never heard wise statements such as "If it is to be, it is up to me."
Young men who heard statements like that from Braun and Collard grew up to be winners, not only on the football field, but also in life.
Caza ended the TRADITION of teaching young men in both life and in football. That is what caused the football program to gradually decline each year that Caza was the coach. That is what caused the football program to ultimately hit rock bottom.
Caza needs to be fired, so that kids once again have quality leadership, so parents can once again approve of what the coaches tell their kids to do.
When that happens, more families will be interested in Marysviles football again. The numbers will increase, and the TRADITION will be restore.
But it all depends on Caza being REMOVED from the football program!

what's with east china doing the voteing does'nt anyone from marysville have anything to say or should we just let east china do it 4 us. is it the coach or staff or kid's being hurt or not playing ? we the people of marysville are investing in a new and big program with the new school and we should be the ones who says what we think !!!!!

People from East China aren't doing all the voting. That's where they are routed through when they submit their vote. It has to do with the location of their ISP--Internet Service Provider--and how their connection is routed. I live in Marysville and sometimes is says Southfield, sometimes it says East China, sometimes is says Highland, USA, etc. Depends on where it's routed before it gets to the page. It's a technical thing.

Viking Guy is 100% correct.
I am the person who started this poll, and it originally listed me as East China, even though I'm from Marysville. I've noticed that it currently lists me as United States. Viking Guy described what the situation with the ISP is perfectly.

In response to what Viking Guy had to say as far as Top Coaches in Marysville history go, I would say this:
* Walt Braun - He was an amazing coach and an amazing man. Walt Braun is arguably the best high school football coach in the history of Michigan, and definitely one of the best in the history of the nation. The total dominance that he had as a coach was absolutely amazing.
It's a shame that Coach Braun spent such a large percentage of his career coaching in an era before the MHSAA started, when fewer games were played. If coach Braun had started coaching at the time the MHSAA came into existence, when up to 13 (and now 14) games were played in a season, he probably would have ended up with over 400 wins, in addition to being the first man to reach the 300-win milestone. Coach Braun will always be remembers as the greatest coach of his era.
Also, it's a shame that the MHSAA had so many problems when it first started. Now it is easy to make the playoffs, because you instantly qualify if you have a 6-3 record. Even a team with a 5-4 team can make the playoffs now. Unfortunately, Braun coached in an era when it was possible for an undefeated team to not make the playoffs, because there were only four “classes” and only 64 teams made the playoffs.
Sadly, Coach Braun experienced that situation in 1983 when he literally had by far his most talented team--undoubtedly the best team to ever play in St. Clair County, and one of the best high school teams to ever play in Michigan in any class. Braun was essentially cheated out of a state championship that season.
In fact, when the season was over the newspapers STILL rated Marysville as the #1 ranked team in the state! This 1983 team is now legendary, because it is said that they won the "Mythical State Championship."
Every year since the MHSAA was formed, the newspapers show one final ranking of teams. Every year since the MHSAA was formed, the winners of the state championship were always ranked #1…EXCEPT ONCE--in 1983 when an 8-1 team from East Grand Rapids won the State Championship, but was NOT ranked #1, because the 9-0 Marysville Vikings were ranked #1!
The mythical 1983 team from Marysville is basically the entire reason why the MHSAA eventually allowed more teams into the playoffs.
Currently, Marysville lists the 1986 and 1992 State Championships at their football stadium. But I believe it is foolish to avoid listing the 1961 team. I also believe Marysville has a right to list the 1983 team.
I've seen other schools that list State Championships on their banner prior to 1975 when the MHSAA was formed, so Marysville should have a right to do that, too. And Marysville DID win the Class-B AP State Championship in 1961. So, Marysville officials are literally cheating the 1961 team out of the recognition they deserve for their achievement!
The same can be said for the 1983 team. MHSAA fully ACKNOWLEDGES that there were problems with the playoff system. The newspapers said that Marysville was the state champion at the end of the 1983 season. The newspapers fully recognized Marysville as the best team in the state in 1983. This means the 1983 team literally won the AP State Championship in 1983.
Marysville needs to give the 1983 team the recognition they deserve with the next stadium!
In my opinion, the next stadium should say:
1992 State Champion - MHSAA Class B
1986 State Champion - MHSAA Class B
1983 State Champion - AP Class B
1961 State Champion - AP Class B

As far as other great coaches in Marysville history go:
* John Knuth - Obviously he is arguably the best high-school Volleyball coach in the history of Michigan, and perhaps the best Volleyball coach in the history of the nation.
The fact that Knuth won 8 State Championships in a row is amazing. But just think about how he won EVERY District Championship and EVERY Regional Championship for TWO DECADES...all in a row!!!
Believe it or not, it gets EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE with Knuth!
John Knuth set the NATIONAL record for "Largest Number of Consecutive Wins" IN ANY SPORT when his teams won 192 games IN A ROW over a FIVE YEAR period of time!!! This record still appears in the Guinness Book of World Records!
From that point of view, you can essentially say that John Knuth is the exact opposite of Mark Caza. The ultimate winner (Knuth) compared to the ultimate loser (Caza).
Knuth was also an amazing Football coach at the ninth-grade level. Knuth completely dominated as a ninth-grade football coach. But more importantly, he taught kids the basics of the game so that other coaches could build upon what Knuth taught them. Knuth was known as an “Offensive Mastermind,” just like coach Braun was. I would have loved to see Knuth work as the Offensive Coordinator of the Varsity team, regardless of whether or not he was the “Head Coach.”
* Bob Sullivan is also an incredible coach. He truly did restart the Marysville Viking Football tradition. He handed Walt Braun the torch of success, and Braun was able to take that torch and hold it higher than ever.
Bill Farnsworth and Terry Curley are cheating Bob Sullivan by not allowing his 1961 team that won the State Championship to be listed and recognized alongside the 1986 and 1992 State Championship football teams.

|
* Jim Venia - Jim Venia is obviously BY FAR the BEST Defensive Coordinator in the history of St. Clair County! His record speaks for itself! There was a time when the name Jim Venia struck fear into the heart of Head Coaches who worked with a teams Offense.
Venia may have won a State Championship in Softball in 1983, but he will ALWAYS be known for the role he played as a Defensive Coordinator on the Football team.
Venia truly did establish a solid reputation for himself. Teams that played against Venia knew that the ONLY way to beat a Venia Defense was to pass the football. This was easier said than done, because Venia was a Blitz mastermind! Quarterbacks had only seconds to throw the ball because Venia was Blitzing players from all over the place! Venia Blitzed linebackers to stop drop-back passes and cornerbacks to stop roll-out passes.
It was virtually impossible to establish a consistent running game against Venia's Defense, because those Blitzers were always tackling running backs for losses, too! Teams also knew that Venia didn't want anything to get outside, so Venia lined his Defensive Ends to the outside of the Offensive Tight ends. Venia even lined the DE's on an angle, just so they would have more leverage! Venia truly was a defensive mastermind.
As a Head Coach, Venia was limited in many ways. Braun and Venia worked well as a team, especially before Braun had a stroke. But Venia didn't have the EXCELLENT group of assistant coaches that Braun did. Braun had an energetic and intelligent Venia as a right-hand man to work with the Defense, which was obviously a great thing. Venia had a lazy and ignorant Caza as a right-hand man to work with the Defense, which was obviously a TERRIBLE thing!
Obviously, Venia should have continued to work with the Defense when he became the Head Coach. Venia wasn't nearly as good with Offense as he was Defense. I think the reason for this was because Venia gave other Defensive Coordinators the same credit as himself; he thought other Defensive Coaches would do what he would do. This limited the number of plays Venia would use on Offense, and that hurt the team...and Venia was NOT good at calling trick plays like Braun was. Venia’s didn’t understand that you were supposed to save the trick plays for big games, not use them all the time on third-and-long.
And having Caza as an Assistant Coach hurt the team...PERIOD. Look at the Stats since 1999, and you will see that for yourself. As Caza gained more authority, the team got worse!
Now that Venia will be the Defensive Coordinator at St. Clair, he will essentially be doing the job that he does BEST! St. Clair is LUCKY to get Venia. Any team that plays St. Clair is going to face a TOUGH defense, simply because of Venia!
|

Walt
|
* Ultimate Coaching Scenario *
I think it's disappointing that Venia and Knuth didn't get along well in life. EVERYONE that I have EVER talked to agrees that if Venia and Knuth would have worked together on the Varsity team after Braun retired, then team would have been unstoppable!
Venia was always known as the "Defensive Mastermind," but it's important to remember that BOTH Coach Braun AND Coach Knuth were known as "Offensive Masterminds." Both Braun and Knuth had trick plays that they loved to run, and both Braun and Knuth were experts with the x's and o's of football!
If Knuth would have coached the Varsity Offense, and Venia would have remained the Defensive Coordinator, the team would have performed AMAZING accomplishments, REGARDLESS of who would have been titled as "Head Coach."
Sadly, Venia and Knuth both had a need to be called "Head Coach." ... and Venia even felt the need to walk in the image of Braun, since he felt the Head Coach should work with the Offense instead of the Defense.
But, maybe it just "seemed" that way. Maybe we aren't giving Venia enough credit. Maybe Venia just didn't want Caza to work with the Offense, since he knew that Caza coached teams may only score 63 points during the whole season!
In a dream world where we can have anything we want, Knuth would replace Caza as Head Football Coach, and then Knuth and Venia would put aside their personal differences for the good of the Marysville community. Knuth would work with the offense as Head Coach. Venia would be able to use his successful season at St. Clair as leverage to be hired at Marysville again, and Knuth would have the authority to hire Venia as Defensive Coordinator.
That would be the birth of SUCCESS on the field and off the field!

I'd also have to agree that the 1961 and 1983 football teams should be listed as state champs at the new stadium and also on all of the signs around town.
Seriously, I'm a lawyer and there is no doubt that the 1961 and 1983 teams are legally considered to be "State Champions."
Up until 1975 the only method of determining a state champ was the AP Poll. Marysville won that poll in 1961. From a legal point of view, the team definitely deserves to be listed with the 1986 and 1992 teams whenever the state champs are listed in Marysville.
Also, from a legal point of view, it could be argued that the AP Poll still carries more weight than the MHSAA playoffs. Here's why:
The MHSAA playoffs did not remove the existence of the AP Poll Rankings that exist. The MHSAA playoffs just made it a heck of a lot easier to determine who to rank #1 at the end of the season!
Up until 1975 there were quite a few conflicts with the AP Poll, just like with the current NCAA College Football polls.
But now that there is a playoff system, the polls don't get nearly as much attention as they used to. The reason for this is because the final AP polls always match up with the winners of the MHSAA state champs. That is, except for once!
MHSAA has experienced a major conflict one time in its history; that time was in 1983. In 1983 we saw East Grand Rapids win the Class-B MHSAA State Championship in the playoffs; however, the performance of East Grand Rapids during the season was NOT good enough to cause the East Grand Rapids team to be ranked #1 in the final AP poll. The honor of being ranked #1 in the final AP poll in 1983 belonged to Marysville.
If Marysville made a point of claiming that they were the 1983 State Football Champion, they would merely be saying that they were the 1983 Class-B AP State Football Champion. That is 100% legal, because that represents facts that represent the truth.
Marysville would not be doing anything at all that would be offensive to East Grand Rapids, or unsportsmanlike. In fact, if East Grand Rapids were to make a big deal out of it, people likely would agree that it is unsportsmanlike of East Grand Rapids to say that Marysville doesn't deserve a "share" of the 1983 State Championship.
Like it or not, we had TWO Class-B State Football Champions in 1983!...but at this point in time only ONE has received credit. It's time that BOTH teams receive credit!
And there is NO DOUBT which team would have dominated the other in 1983! That is why the newspapers made a point of making sure that Marysville was still ranked #1 in the final AP ranking of 1983.
Marysville High School, it has been TWENTY-FIVE YEARS since the 1983 team won a share of the State Championship. If any student wants to be a leader, please make sure that you do whatever you can to make sure the 1983 is given the credit they deserve. It's time that the 1983 team was recognized for their achievements!
Considering that the MHSAA has made such drastic changes to their playoff system since 1983, and considering that this 1983 team from Marysville is the ONLY team that can lay claim to a "share" of the state championship, the MHSAA would probably not have a problem with it. But even if they did, FORGET THEM! This 1983 team has a LEGAL right to lay claim to the 1983 state championship in the same way that teams did prior to 1975.

Tim G, Wesley, Gerry, Larry, Johnson, BGM (or whatever other alias you have used), Wow! I am no psychologist, but it's sad to say that you have a multiple personality disorder and you have a jonesy for the past. You make it very clear that you were a bench-warming, player wannabe, LOSER! But don't you worry, you were needed to keep that bench warm for those athletically skilled players that actually played for the winning teams that played those "so-called" easy scheduled teams! Do you still have splinters? It's your shame that you are still bothered by being such a loser and after all this time you still can't shake it! Keep up the ridiculous posts, we all getting a great laugh. I will go pop my popcorn right now and get ready your next post...don't keep me waiting. I will expect something again about the coaches, easy schedule, political connection, etc. Try to come up with new stuff. Nicholas wrote: Larry, The team Marine City plays in the first week is Sterling Heights.

Trading Melvinadale for Sterling Heights is just as bad as trading Melvindale for East Detroit!
Either way, Marine City ends up being a cheap P*$$Y that demands so much protection it won't bring pleasure to anyone involved, except the pimps--Marine City's selfish coaches who are afraid to play quality non-league opponents each year. Nicholas is 100% correct, and his math looks fine to me! The whole reason why Marine City is called Marine Shity by other athletic directors is because of the worthless teams that Marine City deliberately schedules. That has been PROVEN, so debating about it at this point is no longer an issue. Just to confirm: Marine City's 2007 team played against playoff opponents with a total of 11 losses. That is the weakest playoff run anyone has ever heard of! Marine City played a 6-3 team in the semi-finals! That's as wimpy as it gets! The reason Marine City's coach Tony Scarcelli is referred to as Fony Scarcell by so many of his former players and coaches is because he's the kind of guy who will play the role of "Joe Goodguy" and kiss the butts of anyone who could help the football team or the track team that he coached. But if you weren't an important part of the team, or if you needed to stop playing in order to take a job to help the family with cash, Fony turned into mobster Tony real fast, and you quickly saw his true side that is very selfish! Also, Tony Scarcelli has said many times that he deliberately kisses the butt of Times Herald reporters like Jim Whymer, just so they are motivated to say good things about him and his team instead of bad things. Scarcelli used to literally brag that Whymer was foolish enough to fall for his trap, and he would say that he didn't like Brian Marshall and Kevin Miller because they "were biased towards Marysville and Braun." In reality, Tony was just mad because they realized that he was being Phony...and that was what contributed to him being called "Fony." Also, it's important to remember that Tony Scarcelli and Bob Staskiwicz allowed players on the Track team to steal shot-puts and discs from other teams at track meets. The kids even showed Scarcelli what they had stolen. Rather than kicking those kids off the team and returning the stolen items, Scarcelli said "Don't Get Caught." Staskiewicz was standing right next to him when he said it. Scarcelli did that because the players stealing the equipment were important to the team, and the team would not have been able to compete for the leaugue championship without them. That's why Tony Scarcelli is called Fony Scarcell.

Bob Staskiewicz was always called Bob "Stakashit" by both students and other coaches. Most of the coaches at other schools NEVER liked Coach Bob Staskiewicz; they would call him everything from Coach B.S. to Coach Stakashit.
The reason why other schools coaches didn't like Staskwicz is because he had such a big mouth and thought too highly of himself. Other coaches were NOT impressed by a man who was NOT capable of winning an "outright" league championship until his 12th year in the league. Staskiewicz truly was envious of Walt Braun, because Braun completely overshadowed him in every way and dominated him on the football field.
Braun had won 11 games in a row against Marine City thanks to the poor coaching of Bob Stakashit. Stakashit was even envious of the people of Marysville, because they gave so much more support to their team than the people of Marine City did. This literally reached a point where Stakashit would NOT drive through the town of Marysville.
As far as Ron Glodich goes, I know that people used to call him names like Growadick, Grodick, Glodick, and even Jockitch--since he was so biased towards the “jocks” that he would practically scratch ALL their itches.
Kids constantly called Glodich a biased "dickhead" due to the fact that he showed so much bias towards kids who played sports, and even more bias towards kids who were sons of coaches or staff members. If you were the son of a coach, you were guaranteed a spot on the baseball team that Glodich coached. That’s why he was called "Grodick," since he didn't have the balls that were required to do the right thing and cut certain kids from the baseball team.
During football season, other football coaches called him “Grodick” behind his back, because he is the Offensive Coordinator who never has the guts to yell at a “jock,” or stand up and raise his voice to a fellow coach in front of the team at practice or a game. Even when Glodich is right about something, he will stay passive and quiet, because he knows Scarcelli is so much bigger than he is and will embarrass him. Other coaches and kids agreed that Glodich basically needs to grow a dick and some balls, and use them!
I attended school at both Marine City and Marysville, because my parents moved. So I know what I'm talking about. I heard and saw all of this myself, and I played for both schools. One minute those MC coaches would go out of their way to say “hi” to you if you were on the team, but if you had to quit the team and get a job in order to help the family pay bills, the MC coaches would deliberately turn their head to ignore you when you said "hi" to them.
At Marysville, everyone was treated equally, and the coaches kept on saying “hi” to you, even after you quit the team. In fact, I had coaches ask me how my family was doing AFTER I quit the team! Nothing like that happened at Marine City!
If you want to try and protect idiots like that at Marine City who definitely are PHONY, then that's your business. But do it somewhere else. This is a Marysville poll discussing Marysville problem(s)(i.e., Mark Caza).

Okay, here's my list of top football people in Marysville history, in alphabetical order:
Braun, Walt
Collard, Neil
Knuth, John
Sullivan, Bob
Quinlan, Jack
Venia, Jim
It's true that Mr. Collard wasn't an actual football coach, but he was The Voice of the Vikings, and they named a street after him! He was just as much of a positive influence on the program as Braun was, because Collard taught the kids how to be great young men, show respect for others, and live great lives.
I have to agree with Walt and Dan that the 1961 and 1983 teams should be listed alongside the 1986 and 1992 teams as state champions.
Now would be the perfect time to give the 1983 team the recognition they deserve, because it has been 25 years since the 1983 season. That means the 1983 team could be recognized for winning the 1983 AP State Championship on their 25th anniversary!
Go Vikings! Fire Caza and move forward!!!!!!!
