Last week there was an escape from White Rock Academy in Esbon. They stole a car and got somwhere in CO. Was curious how all this turned out, or what really happened, but there has been nothing in any of the papers that I have seen. Anybody know anything?

It's supposed to be a "school for troubled teens" but it is very poorly run. The staff is under trained and underpaid. The owners aren't even in Kansas, they are in Utah. The school manager isn't qualified to flip burgers. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD THERE- He/She will end up being more "troubled" after this program then before.

The school has been having problems that have been reported to me. Also there are some law lawsuits I think coming them.

Yes they take girls, but why does that matter-- All that matters is they finally got closed down. It needed to happen for a long time.

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about anyone who owned or operated the academy. The owners seemed to have gone underground. They were there to tkae your money but not around to answer any questions about the academy. Where are the owners and what is happening?

I wish there was a way to private message on here I would give you all the info. I have . If only. I think you can list some of the info as everyone who had a child there (at one time or another) feels a little screwed over, we trusted them with our child (ren). I believe that everything that we hoped for was ruined by greed and once the money started rolling in the best interest of the kids was forgotten. Having your child at WRA was not only costly in money but the damaged that was done to the kids. Them not getting the proper mental help and the kids feeling the stress and not being able to share that is unforgiveable. We all wanted our kids to get the help they needed. It is hard to get the help when you do not know what is going on and the info is filtered by those in charge. Let's not forget the "program director" did not have a license and changed the rules mid stream on the kids. Also the type of "student" they began accepting were more troubled and had many more problems than the child (ren) they initial accepted. If you look at the articles that listed all the violations in feb that were not corrected, the staff and owners had time to correct those problems and did not. I guess they were to busy counting the cash and figured they could get away without having to fix those problems,

The Academy at White Rock will be re-opening on the campus of Harvard University in Boston tomorrow. Parents, please send us your children. Tuition is free, as is housing. Food.....also free, unlimited prime rib buffet 24-7 365. We promise to do better at The Acadamey at White Rock. An exact replica of the Jewell facility has been built on the Harvard campus, students of the Academy will be able to use all the facilities at Harvard and will have first choice of full-ride scholarships at Harvard if students attain at least a D average at The Academy at White Rock.

Are you a complete fool. This may seem funny to you but those kids at WRA were sent there out of love. The parents who sent their children wanted to help them and prevent them from becoming someone like you. You have not lived until you see your child making every wrong decision that can be made and unless you want to see your child arrested there is nothing you can do. Do you have any idea how hard and painful it is to send your child away in order to save their life (lives). In addition you trusted people to look after your child (yes some even called the state of Kansas to check to see if there were any problems which at the time there were non) and as time goes on you find that corners are being cut your child is stressed and is unable to tell you why (because staff will not let them) and you come to find out that they are not getting the help they need and that the students that they are now taking in are students with problems greater than your ignorance and you get no answers from the staff. I would like to see how you parent,. I am guessing t=from your post that you are lucky if you have a GED. I think the real problem here was greed and someone was taking a making a lot of money and did not want to part with the cash to help those same kids.

Let's get this straight. Everybody needs to watch who they are blaming in all of this. If you talked with all the kids, they would tell you that the Youth Staff "who were with them everyday" are not the ones to blame. The nurse and secretary talked to the kids if they were upset/scared. If your looking to blame somebody them look to the "administrater" or the "therepist" or the owners. Everybody else who worked there where the ones trying to help your kids, our hands were tied in more ways then you can imagine. Many staff left because of the problems there, but the others stayed to give some kind of stability to the kids. Any questions, requests, comments or suggestions were pushed to the side by the administration.

The person who wrote the last posting is abousetly correct. The day to day staff were the ones who tried really took great care of the kids and tried to help. I totally agree that the adminstrator, the on site therapist and the owners were hands off kind of people. The day to day staff are the ones that should be thanked for taking care of the kids and were the hands on people who tried the best they could to help the kids.
