City Market - Luling, TX

Full story: Roadfood.com Reviews

Inside the pit room, you watch as your brisket and sausages are severed to order. " Luling has two great claims to culinary fame: the annual watermelon thump, a festival presided over by that year's Watermelon Queen, and the City Market, which is one of the defining barbecue parlors of the ... via Roadfood.com Reviews

True, that is about all Luling has to offer. I was looking at school and crime ratings in Luling and saw that crime has risen during past 5 yrs and the schools are academically unacceptable. Isn't there anyone that should be held accountable for the school ratings for the past 5 yrs? And the amount of kids that go beyond HS is ridiculous. They need a counselor that cares about the kids future. I now live in a top rated school district and am ashamed of being a Luling graduate.

Culinary fame is fancy talk for great BB-Q. Sorry to hear ya'll having trouble with the schools. I went to school up north in the panhandle and moved south after graduation. I'm a BB-Q lover and it's hard for me to pick between Luling and Lockhart lots of times. Too many places to name, the list is long, so it depends on my mood and what direction I'm coming from on where I eat. As for what, it won't be no half link thats for shore. Give that to my grandson to cut his teeth on and the other half to the dog if she's lucky. Never heard of any adult counting calories eating BB-Q anyway!

You know we never asked, kind of like asking how many calories in these here sausage? Just bring on the mustard, large salted soft pretzels, funnel cakes and cotton candy. Those local ladies selling cakes, cookies, pies, and all sorts of homemade treats. Takes me a week to recover from the Thump!

I have also grown up in Luling. Most of the teachers are rupublican, no doubt. If you are a minority in Luling you can bet you might not get the same education everyone else does. The school district there is a joke. The only things the teachers seem to worry about is their weight. If you have lived there long enough. Instead of running everyday. They should be at home creating lesson plans. Lesson plans that actually teach students. It's just a job to them. They didn't care then and then still don't care now. They need to do a clean sweep. Bring in new teachers who actually care. There is no growth in Luling because the wealthy people there do not want to see change. They want to keep their money in their pockets. It's a sad town.

Luling has great barbeque, but it also has a Steakhouse that is not only good, fresh food, but quiet quaint. It is family owned and operated and they actually serve real, fresh and seasoned foods. I have also been told that they have the steaks cut daily and picked up each morning, and they serve seafood in Luling! And it is actually good. The place is called Kincaid Steakhouse and apparently it moved from Bastrop County to Luling the first part of this year. What a discovery!

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Taurus

If you gave up over what happened yesterday, you stand a better chance of sorting things out today. Talking to the person who failed to go for the teamwork may help to get a grip on the situation, especially if you manage to avoid recriminations or accusations. Instead, do your best to be as understanding and compassionate as possible. Or just let it go.
