GE Transportation cuts more than 1,500 Pa. jobs

GE Transportation is cutting more than 1,500 jobs in northwestern Pennsylvania. http://www.goerie.com The company announced Tuesday that it would make permanent 1,200 temporary layoffs that were announced in February at its factory near Erie, which makes electric locomotives.

Another blow to Erie. That ought to cost about 6,000 jobs and affect 18,000 people's livelihood.

true.. in the multi state area where i attempt to engage in commerce the plant closings are almost all permanent, this is much different than past recessions. the dow and corporate profits are up, but that is only because of cost cutting and downsizing. the economy needs to expand and grow for prosperity, this isn't going to happen in the near to mid future, Obama is essentially scuttling those who elected him. we will all soon be underclass with a few regional overseers and our owners will be in washington and the state capitals. Thanks acorn and american numbskulls.
