As Keller residents, my family and I enjoy trying out the new locally-owned restaurants popping up in our fair city – and rarely have we been disappointed. However, that is exactly how I have to rate our breakfast at Café Omega – disappointing. I will say the service was good, the restaurant itself appeared clean and orderly but the food was sub par, at best. My 3 year old chose the 5 silver dollar pancakes plate from the kid’s menu, which also comes with a small side of scrambled eggs and a sausage/bacon. The pancakes came neatly arranged on the plate in an overlapping arch and looked great. However, as we deconstructed the arch, I found that all of the pancakes (except the top one) were in varying levels of burnt! The middle pancake was 3/4th black (now I understood the nice arch design). Now who in their right mind would serve burnt pancakes – especially on a child’s plate?! I had ordered a small stack of pancakes and the bottom pancake was verging on burnt. Again, it seemed like the burnt pancakes had been “hidden”. My pancakes were edible, so I shared them with my 3-year old rather than wait for 2 more meals to be made by the kitchen. I already wasn’t impressed, so why prolong the stay? The hash browns were tasteless and dry and pasty. The omelet my husband ordered had been constructed by first cooking the eggs completely done and then adding the other ingredients and folding the omelet over. As my husband said, they clearly have a cook that doesn’t care what food goes out of his/her kitchen. And, needless to say, we won’t be back.

I went to Cafe Omega on 8/4 after receiving a coupon in the mail (which we ended up not even using). I was very unimpressed as well. The wait staff was fine, but the food was bland and seemed to really just be thrown together quickly. I didn't expect any elegance at all, but I figured it would be better than what I would make on my own. The three of us had a salad, a sandwich and a chicken fried steak. The sandwich and side of onion rings (which I had) were pretty awful really. The other 2 seemed to be okay with theirs and didn't complain too much, but neither chose to finish their meal. I am sure I won't be back.

I have been to the Cafe Omega on several different occasions and I must say it was fantastic! The first time I went was for breakfast and I just had the short stack of pancakes. They were delicious! Not sure what you had disatisfied, but mine were certainly not burnt. Since then i've been back several times for dinner having chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, catfish, and just the cheeseburger. The burger was awfully messy, but still good.
And the service was wonderful.

I know for a fact they had to close due to a electrically problem due to the storms we were having. So, who ever told you that rumor is not a truthful person.

Well, considering their health inspection score as published in the Keller Citizen, I would hope they were closed down!

My husband went there one day and said the service was so-so, but the food was decent. So, we decided to go there for a quick dinner one night with our kids. Our kids' french fries came out so hot that they didn't get to eat any of them while we were there. I ordered the chicken fried steak which the waiter said looked good but admitted he'd never had. Oh my goodness, it was so burned the crust just fell apart the moment I touched it with my fork. And the meat itself was thinner than a thin pancake. I could hardly find it anyway through all the burned crust, and it was too tough to chew. Then, I had to order my sides several times because the waiter didn't know what or how many sides were supposed to come with it. I also asked for extra gravy....from three different people before finally having to just go up to the counter to ask. When they gave it to me, it literally felt like they'd pulled it from the fridge. The place had only four tables occupied the entire time, yet three times we had to get up ourselves to ask them to fill our drinks. At the end of the meal, when we got our check not only did the waiter charge me for my chicken fried steak meal, but he also charged me extra for the sides that should have been included. My husband got the all-you-can-eat (catfish, I think) and they tried to double charge him because he got the seconds. It took longer to get them to understand the errors than it did for us to eat. And just as we were leaving our server and another guy working said something about us needing to be sure to leave a big tip cause they didn't work for free and the place was not exactly busy, so they could use the extra. Wonder why? Ick. I WOULD NOT recommend this to anyone. The food and the service were horrible, and they make no apologies. Also, if you've checked the paper lately they had an enormous amount of health violations.....just some food for thought.

Elk's Diner has the best omlet you will ever eat. The people are friendly, and the prices are right. If they are busy you may have a short wait but it is well worth it.

If you have not been to Cafe Omega recently, then the people who think it's absolutly terrible need to give it one more chance. When I went in to eat the other day I was pleasantly greeted the moment I walked in. I am usually very picky about how I like my food, That is why I just ordered a plain burger with fries. I explained to my waitress exatly how I wanted my burger cooked and what to put on it, when it was ready and brought out to me my burger looked perfect. Cooked medium with tomato, onions, no pickles, and mustard. Now the next step was to eat it. As I took a bite the juices began to flow from the patty into my mouth and I could feel my tastebuds going crazy. The fries were lightly fried and absolutly wonderful. I also got to enjoy a nice conversation with my waitress.

So if you haven't been in a while, give it another chance and I'm sure yu'll see a difference.

I have tried Omega more than once...I even tried going back after I heard it was "Under New management". Nothing and no one seemed to different, same children running a restaurant, same food they say is "Keller Home Made" but isnt because you can taste the freezer burn. I really enjoyed this restaurant when they first opened. The 3 Ladies that opened it were WONDERFUL, they made sure the food was, well, as good as frozen foods can be...Now? WOULD NOT recommend!
