It costs JOBS, JOBS and hits everyone’s pocketbook. What is it?“Foreign cars are better.” EMPHATICALLY, it’s NOT TRUE! Years ago perhaps, but not today!

Proof: March J.D. Power report: For reliability, Buick tops Lexus; Lincoln & Mercury in top 5. In recent years, American and foreign are neck and neck. Material differences in quality just don’t exist.

But they do in minds influenced by BIASED media. For years our own media have been touting foreign, especially, Japanese, and bashing American.

Yes, our media, FOR FREE (and you have to wonder about this), help sell MILLIONS of Japanese cars. And Japanese car salespeople trash American cars. That’s what our Big 3 has to contend with. It’s tough! And because they’re such a huge factor in our economy, as much as a fifth of it, this costs America dearly, JOBS, JOBS!

Yet the Japanese say,“We give jobs. We build cars here.”

But they assemble only SOME here. Their goal: get people to think:“They’re built here, they’re American.” B.S! They’re still foreign and profits from them go back to Japan!

And MOST, yes MOST, Japanese cars sold here are built in Japan and shipped here by boat! How about that!

Then there’s this stark reality: Every year Japanese auto industry mother-corporations in Japan get 31% of their income from car sales in America. That’s billions that feed Japan’s economy.

We’re Japan’s cash cow! This, despite our almost 50 million people with no health care, 37 million in poverty including 18% of our kids, 77,000 bridges needing repairs, interstate highways crumbling, city schools deteriorating, and unemployment at 10%+ in many states, 15.2 in Michigan.

Considering our desperate needs, we let the Japanese feed on us? Can we build cars in Japan? No! They impose costs that make it unworkable. In ‘08 they bought only 10,000 from us but sold us 3-4 MILLION! Fair?

And how about this?: They’ve even refused to buy apples from us! In effect, they close their 160 million-people market to us.

We let them get away with this? Yep! In Washington, they have super clout. Example: they got the lion’s share of our Clunkers program. Incredibly, Americans get rebates to buy foreign. That’s great for Japan and S. Korea! Their sales have boomed. But at whose expense?: U.S. taxpayers and the Big 3.

How could we disregard the 50 billion we have in the Big 3? Why didn’t we limit rebates to their cars? If we had, we would have put thousands of Americans back to work. What’s wrong with that? In the end, Clunkers will turn out to have (1) boosted Japan and S. Korea’s economies,(2 cost us even more jobs, and (3) made it tougher for our Big 3. We blew it!

Speaking of the S. Koreans, in ‘08 they sold us 800,000 cars but bought only 6,000 of ours. Square shooters?

Have you noticed thata few if any Big 3 dealers advertise:“BUY AMERICAN?” Why not? Simple: many also sell Asian cars. But if they would push American, they’d put thousands of people here back to work. Yes, dealers could help our economy. But, shortsightedly, they don’t and just add to our woes.

Anyway, our “FOREIGN-CAR-I-TIS,” fueled by our own media, has finally caught up with us. It has cost America a million jobs! And if we continue unconcerned, we could lose 4 million.

But there’s hope: GM and Chrysler’s reorganizing will make them stronger. Nevertheless, the Japanese and S. Koreans are licking their chops hoping the Big 3 fail so they can devour our industry. Shall we help them?

NO! NO! Let’s back the new GM and Chrysler, as well as Ford, which is reinventing itself. Of late, Ford’s market share has been climbing. Hopefully, we’re waking up: CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME, not in Japan or S. Korea!

Next time support our bread and butter, lease or buy AMERICAN!

P.S. More on quality: in 2006, Toyota was under criminal investigation for hiding safety defects:
