Just wondering if there is a reasonable size of the population in Ithaca in their 40's & 50's. I am considering moving to the area (I'm a young 50ish) but am concerned about this. I lived in Boulder for a while and found it to be a college/young adult town. Any comments? Thanks!

There are plenty of folks in Ithaca in their 40's and 50's. Your big question is are you employable by anyone here unless you are independently wealthy. In that case, a great place to live.

This is a Huge college town. I also have found residents not to really care too much about technology , I have started an internet radio station locally with hopes of catering to locals , but have found they could care less ! Most of my visitors and listeners come from other states as well as other countries. My own Home county Tompkins County doesnt care nothing that New technology is trying to promote them . So if you come here with hopes of starting a business , make sure you can ship to other places , you wont get support locally.

Thanks to both of you for commenting on my concern. You've both pointed to the reason that I have pretty much chosen not to move there. Even though the age thing doesn't seem to be a problem, I'm concerned about landing a decent job and being able to afford live there.

I'd still like to move out East as my daughter lives in NYC but don't know of a place within 100 miles of there that would be affordable.

Again, I appreciate your filling me in. Good luck to you both!
