All I can reply to you is I hope you never have to experience someone's terrible slander. God bless you! I forgive you.

I doubt that will happen. I am a forgiving person but when you get stabbed over and over sometimes people need to learn a different way. I am not going to keep trying. There will come a day he needs me and others he has done wrong. The things he has done this time are not easily forgiven.I'm "over" it. Enough said on the "likes" of him!!
Maybe you shouldn't of lied on Mr. Kerr or stole from him or spread bad rumors on him and he might would still be your friend, I would drop a freindship too if a so called friend spread rumors or stole from me!!!!!!

As far as oppions go every one has one a lot of people like to say things about other people with out knowing them first. I have known Jay Kerr for about 12 years and know that Mr. Kerr goes above and beyond what is required as a police officer
He helps people out even on his days off and I have seen him spend money out of his own pocket to help people in need. The only people that I know that like to talk bad about others must have been busted for drugs or speeding. They speed and get caught the blame the officer, the officer was not in the car with you pushing the gas pedal down. Get a life take responsibility for your actions and stop blaming others for your stupidity. Mr. Kerr cares about Mabscott and is trying to do his job. I know along time ago Mabscott had a bad reputation but these are not the same officers. That is like someone robbing a bank and you getting blamed for it. As far a the Mayor goes the man cares about Mabscott more that any other mayor would. During the winter time I see himself at 2am plowing the roads, repairing roads, and keeping the town running. He has personally spent his own money for things the town needed and donated the items to the town without a second thought. These two men have give more back to their community than anyone else I have known. And never ask for anything in return. There should be more people like Jay Kerr and Wayne Houch this world would be a better place.

I seen this comment and started to think. With this much hate. I being a fellow officer in another county. Most people that I have dealings with that are drug dealers, trouble makers, dui's
anyone that has had a bad experince with law enforcement. Says the same thing "they better never lose their badge" Most of the time it is because they are mad for being caught. When they
sould be blaming themself for doing illegal activities. Hang in there Mr. Kerr and keep doing your job my hat is off to you.

You like to keep making your cyberspace threats from the comfort of your living room, but unless you have badge to hide behind, you best be careful just who you seek out. Your precious leaders are too scared to put down their badges and face someone like a man, so I doubt you have much bigger nads either----PUNK

First of all let me make one thing clear...Tina Hargis is my real name, unlike most of you out there I'm not afraid to say who I really am. Now as for why I am posting this......Can anyone explain to me why these people must continue the trash talking about Jay Kerr??? I've personally known him for over 16 years and honestly I dont believe you could find a more loving or caring friend. To those of you who are sitting there in front of your computer not wanting to give your "real name", talking about a man that MOST of you have never met, and actually thinking that you live in the "real world" I would like to offer you a challange -- walk one day, just one whole day in Capt Kerr's shoes. I would bet that 99% of us out there would NEVER be able to make it even a couple of hours. Jay Kerr lives the life that most of us are to afraid to have, he gets up every morning, puts on that uniform walks out the door knowing in the back of his mind that he may or may not come home to his family at the end of his shift. Because he is out there trying to keep the town of Mabscott safe for those of us who either live there or those of us who are just visiting. I'm a mother of 3 children and there is no way in hell i would want to risk my comfortable lil world for anyone other than my family or friends. But all he thinks about is making that town safer for not only his family but every other family out there. And you have the nerve to run your mouth about the man that is out there keeping you and your family safe while your able to just sit here and talk shit. You seriously need to step back and think, what would you do if your son or daughter were missing or being molested???? Just a week ago Capt Kerr arrested an adult who molested a 12 year old child. What would you do if that were your child?? Would you still be sitting here bad mouthing the officer that arrested the child molester??? I know that I would be so thankful that he was able to take a criminal off the streets. One less person that you have to worry about being near our children. You need to take a long hard look at all the good things that Capt. Jay Kerr has been able to do while working at for the police dept. You should be GREATFUL that you live in a town that has such an amazing man as their Capt. My thanks and deepest appreciation goes out to you Capt. Jay Kerr. Thank you for putting your life on the line for all of us each and everyday. Please dont listen to all of this, please know that there are so many of us out there who HONESTLY know that you are a damn good police officer, a wonderful friend and an amazing father. Thank you for all that you do!!!!!!

If you are meaning for me to confront Mr. Kerr you need to read the whole entry in stead of just part. The first part was a quote.
If you are meaning for me to confront the people I have to deal with. Then I would be lowering my professionalism and be just like you. It sounds like most people that like to use the word "TOUGHMAN" are usually cowards. They talk tough but never react. Like I said before Mr. Kerr
keep up the good work. My hat is off to you.

Former Mabscott policeman cleared of charges in criminal case

Michelle James
Register-Herald Reporter

A criminal case against a former Mabscott police officer was dismissed in Raleigh County Magistrate Court Wednesday, and allegations are now being made against the officer who filed those charges.

Jason Glen Sheets, 21, of Coal City, turned himself in to Beckley authorities Sept. 5 and was arrested for allegedly charging gas to a credit card issued by the town of Mabscott after he had been dismissed from the police department.

During a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning, according to magistrate Mary Jennings, evidence was presented showing Sheets had, in fact, still been an employee of the department when he purchased gasoline.

Jennings said records show Sheets made an arrest at 2:35 a.m. on Aug. 12, filled up the gas tank in his police cruiser at 2:39 a.m., and was terminated later that day.

Sheets’ attorney David Hart said he believed Mabscott, Capt. J.M. Kerr in particular, made the allegations against his client even though he says the evidence they had clearly showed Sheets had been working at the time of the purchase.

“I think it was very clear (from the evidence presented at the hearing) that it was not a case of a mistake that was made by the Mabscott Police Department,” he said.“(This was done because) of a vendetta against the officer (Sheets) by Capt. Kerr, who made the complaint.”

Kerr, however, said the allegations were “100 percent untrue.”

“I had nothing against Mr. Sheets whatsoever,” he said.

On the day Sheets was terminated, Kerr said the former officer refused a request to come into the police station to discuss complaints that had been made against him.

He was then terminated but did not turn in several items, including his gas card, until Aug. 17.

When Mabscott Mayor Wayne Houck received the bill for the gas card several weeks later, Kerr said, he noticed the transaction from Aug. 12 and went back to check records to determine the last day Sheets had worked.

“The last day he punched in was on the ninth,” Kerr said.“He did not punch in on the 11th or the 12th when he worked and he wouldn’t come in to talk to us about it. That’s why the charges were brought up. We had no idea he had worked on the 12th.”

Hart, however, said the arrest made by his client the day he was terminated was enough evidence to show that Kerr knew the last date he had worked.

The complaint Kerr referred to when discussing the reason for Sheets’ termination, was, Hart said, made by the person he arrested in the hours before he was fired, proving, he continued, that Kerr knew Sheets had worked Aug. 12.

Kerr said he did not know when the arrest had been made and in no way intended to make false accusations against sheets.

“I would never in the world file a charge on someone if I knew they didn’t commit it (the crime),” he said.“Mr. Sheets was given every opportunity to come in and talk to us but he didn’t.”

Hart said he expects charges to be brought up against Kerr for making false accusations.

Beckley Police Detective Sgt. Dave Allard, who investigated the case, said the information would be turned over to the Raleigh County Prosecutor’s Office, who would then determine if a crime had been committed.
