Well, tickle me pink. Wick area in Tyler County finally got Frontier high speed DSL internet service. This is the biggest news to hit the Wick area since God knows when. Started out here on dial-up, moved on to Hughesnet & now getting DSL. This may mean nothing to the city folk on here but huge relief for us country folk. lol

Love the new DSL in the Wick area. Way faster and more dependable than any other internet available in Wick.

Frontier's DSL, the only available broadband to many of us, has recently been having all kinds of slowdowns. Has anyone noticed that we only get about 1/3 of the speed we pay for during the evening hours? Have you had complete area outages for a few hours? When it's working... it's great but it just isn't working 100% all the time.

My Frontier DSL has been working fine with no slow down in speed at any time of the day. I work from home 3 days out of 5 and am on the internet at least 12 hours per day with no issues yet.

There is about 150 yards of old underground telephone cable that runs from my home to the closest pole that has the new fiber optic line. I thought that would be an issue but seems to not be because it works fine.

DSL was out today for hours - St.Marys, Charleston & Bluefield districts. Was out last week for several hours, too. Frontier continues to patch up the existing system without upgrading so it'll keep happening.

Sure, there have been some outages, but for me, a teacher and also the station manager for WRSG 91.5 FM, it's been a godsend. I can work much more efficiently, and can now spend more time at home doing what formerly could only be done at Tyler Consolidated!

It's much better than dialup but it's not consistent so it's very poor for the price:$55+ per month!
