So as everyone knows the school lists were posted this Friday; as a parent I was just wondering if anyone else saw that the kids placed with the best teachers were children of parents/grandparents that volunteer at the school? I do not believe that it is a coincidence that over half of one particular teacher at Flinn who is known to be an excellent teacher, has approximately half of her class that their parents/grandparents are helpers at the school. It seems that these same set of students are always lucky enough to be placed with the best teachers year after year, which clearly shows me that when Miller says she does not take requests that that rule does not apply to everyone. I would like nothing more to make copies every day and pop popcorn, but I am forced to work to provide for my family, but do not believe that my child should pay the price for that. Does anyone else feel this way??? And why are the teachers prohibited from being allowed in the decision process of which child goes to what teacher because they know better than anyone what each child needs.
Agreed

Yes, coincidence that "certain students" get "certain teachers"? I think not!!!! Especially when it happens every single school year!

i agree with the above, most parents don't have the ability to go and volunteer, or sometimes just don't want to. When I send my kids to school, i feel they do better without seeing me for 7 hours. And why exactly do teachers need volunteers? That is a whole other topic, but favoritism needs to be stopped. Can you raise some hell with the board of ed. or do they not even care? I would make sure that the pricipal knows how I feel and that I am taking it a level higher. total crap....

They say they don't take request well that's a lie I know for a fact that they do ! I have never requested a teacher but a I have a cousin who request and gets the teacher she wants each year for her child. Miss. Miller could care less what people say or think its her way . It needs to stop do u think any of those parents kids where or would be put in a class tha says no teacher I think not

I am 100% certain that they take requests or better yet..DEMANDS. I know a certain parent whose children get the exact teachers she "hopes" her kids get. She lets it be known who she "hopes" her kids teachers will be through the summer and then would you believe they get those exact teachers. Oh by the way...she lives at the school. And NO..a teacher is not a teacher.

I have thought about contacting the board but am afraid my children will pay for this action....feel like my hands are tied, never been a fan of clicks when I was younger and I'm still not...or maybe it's not clicks but good 'ole fashion kissing???

I contacted the board 2 times last year about a teacher and contacted Miss Miller she was no help she took the teachers side and had the nerve to tell me my child should stand up to the teacher sorry but I do not raise my children to back talk adults and teachers and I am sure if he did he would have gotten into trouble. I like the school but there is a lot to be said about some of the so called teachers and how they treat kids when Miller is not looking

. Let's just say my son had her and it was not a great year there where a few problems with her attitude and things she told the kids that didn't need to be talked about in school, I went to the board on her and to mrs. Byrd/miller and was given the run around let's put it this way the teacher is always right out there , and just ask any kid even kids not in her class did not like her all said she was mean

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Leo

Today's Full Moon will affect your love life significantly during the next few months. You might have to say goodbye to someone you care about, or you may realize some difficult truths about your relationship. You may also have to make a tricky decision about a child or a creative project. Although this won't be a very easy time, don't make it worse by over-reacting and turning every hitch into a major drama.
