what I don't understand by attorneys words if Jamie was in the bathroom and didn't see it what is this -----"McConville said all the parties were afraid their significant others would find out about the event. He called Christensen telling the alleged victim "this never happened" a reassurance, not a threat." Really, since when if we didn't see the incidint take place would a person make that kind of reference? SORRY BOYS I'M NOT BUYING WHAT YOUR SELLING!!!!!!!

Just saw kcci news at noon. The survivor has been on the stand all morning.
I do not buy what they are selling. They did not want thier significant others to find out, what was Christensen afraid of, "he did not see anything", or that is what they are saying now.
Their whole story sounds more made up than it did to begin with.
And the lawyers, I would hate to be them, this whole case is out to lunch.
Christensen says he was in the bathroom....because then thier is no witness to what happened, just her word against Sickels, that is where this is going.
From what I heard on the news at noon, Sickels asked for a sex act just like what was in her original statements. These two need to go to jial and stay there, no parole, no getting out, they did this because they could and she even says Christensen tole ""THIS DID NOT HAPPEN"", but why would he say that.. since he says "nothing happened HE WAS IN THE BATHROOM".
They should done, over, gone, they are a disgrace to the human race, not to mention to the community and the police force.
The punishment should exceed what the norm is because they were officers of the law

Alleged Victim Takes Stand In Creston Officers Trial
POSTED: 12:19 pm CST March 4, 2009
UPDATED: 12:29 pm CST March 4, 2009

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Prosecutors called their first witness in the rape trial against Creston’s former police chief and assistant chief on Wednesday morning.

The 45-year-old woman involved in the case took the stand Wednesday morning.

Former assistant chief John Sickels is accused of sexually assaulting a Creston bartender, while former chief Jamie Christensen is accused of aiding Sickels.

KCCI is not naming the alleged victim. She testified that one night last April, Sickels and Christensen were the last remaining customers at closing time. She said nothing unusual happened until Sickels asked for a sex act, which she took as a joke.

She said a short time later, she sensed it was not a joke when she said Sickels repeated it and the two men cornered her. The woman said Sickels forced himself on her while Christensen stood right there and watched.

"Does Mr. Christensen say anything to you as he's sitting there face to face with you as you're being sexually assaulted," asked Assist. Iowa Attorney General Becky Goettsch.

"No. He just grinned," said the alleged victim.

"Did he make any noises at all towards you when he's touching you hair," asked Goettsch.

"He might have said 'shhh' or calmed me somehow. He was just trying to be all like it was I don't know, it was like he was trying to calm me down," said the alleged victim.

Authorities said the woman did not call for help that night and did not seek medical treatment. Goettsch asked why not.

"Because I was afraid of repercussions. They would ask me who did they and I would say who, and it was the police and no one would believe me and I…in a small town I didn't know what to do with this. I had no idea what to do or where to go, who to trust," said the alleged victim.

The woman has been on the stand all morning answering questions from prosecutors. When she returns Wednesday she faces potentially tougher questions from defense attorneys.

She was composed, though there were times when she appeared somewhat upset.

Rape trial: Creston bartender says she was afraid to report crime

Sioux City, Ia.– The bartender who says she was raped by two former Creston police officers testified today that she felt “very threatened” when one of the officers asked repeatedly for oral sex.

John Sickels’ request at the Crestmoor Country Club first seemed like an over-the-top joke, the woman said. But the 45-year-old said she began to feel scared when Sickels, a former assistant police chief, said:“Oh, come on. Just give us both" oral sex.

Sickels and former Creston police chief James Christensen then cornered her, the woman testified. Sickels left, the woman said, while Christensen blocked her escape.

“I was trying to appeal to the human in there,” she said.“And all he did was stare at me with this glazed grin on his face.”

The woman then recounted her alleged rape at the bar during the second day of Sickel and Christiansen’s trial in Woodbury County court.

Christensen, 41, and Sickels, 39, each face a second-degree sexual assault charge for the alleged rape in April 2008. Both men have pleaded not guilty.

The woman told jurors she began work around 6 p.m. on April 17, 2008 –“men’s night” at the club – and sensed nothing unusual.

The Des Moines Register generally does not identify alleged sexual assault victims.

The woman said she recognized Sickels and Christensen with several other men at a table, drinking rum and whiskey with Coke. She said she chatted with the group a few times, and at one point asked them for their advice on a homework paper. Sickels and Christiansen had both spent the night drinking, she said, but neither seemed intoxicated.

Sometime around 2 a.m., after the bar had emptied, Sickels and Christensen allegedly took seats at the bar and chatted with the woman.

Still, the woman said, nothing seemed wrong until Sickels’ second request for oral sex.

“I was thinking that I’m really scared, that I’m feeling very threatened, and I thought they were going to harm me,” she said.“I was thinking sexual assault at this point.”

When the woman refused, prosecutors say, Christensen and Sickels blocked her escape route and locked the exit doors. Sickels then allegedly raped the woman at the bar, while Christensen sat face-to-face with the woman, patted her hair and hand, and “shushed her.”

The woman said she did not immediately seek medical attention because she was “afraid of the repercussions” if asked who had raped her. She said she did not even tell her boyfriend for a week.

Sickels’ lawyer, Richard McConville, counters that his client and the bartender had consensual sex after drinking, but stopped before they had finished. Christensen’s lawyer has said his client was in the country club restroom and stumbled upon the scene.

Sickels, in an interview with state investigators, first denied any contact with the woman, but later admitted that he kissed and penetrated her with his finger, according to prosecutors. Pressed further, he allegedly acknowledged having sex with the woman but said it was consensual.

Second-degree sexual abuse carries a possible 25-year prison term. The Iowa attorney general is handling the case to avoid possible conflicts of interest with the Union County Attorney.

The trial is taking place in Woodbury County District Court because of concerns that pre-trial publicity has biased any potential jury in Union County. The trial is expected to last at least a week.

The woman’s testimony for prosecutors will continue today, followed by a cross-examination from defense lawyers this afternoon.

Christensen's lawyer says he was in the bathroom and stumbled upon the scene. HELLO he was the Chief of Police, when you stumble upon something like that don't you stop it? You just have to wonder how many other crimes did he stumble upon while Chief of Police and he did nothing to stop them?? That just sounded stupid Mr Lawyer.

Well Well Well, This is the defense putting Jamie in the bathroom, so the only witnesses are John and the victim. Someone smell something very wrong here? So to all YOU SUPPORTERS, this defense is lame and I am appalled already. My heart goes out to the victim, bless you for the courage and conviction to stand up against these two pigs!

Not to mention that later when she met with JC to 'report' the crime, as a Chief of facking Police JC WAS OBLIGATED to his duty to act in some way!

Did he conveine an investigation? NO.

Did he contact the County Attorney's office? NO.

Did he attempt to contact the DCI Office in Osceola? NO.

Did he attemt to contact the Attorney General's Office? NO.

And why did he completely ignore his duty to act? Because he was knee deep in it!!

YEAH I find it odd..I swear I heard them say tonight at ten...he wore a wire also! So he was more careful with what he said to her as well.

I do find it odd also that he was yelling at her on the call!! So when you call the chief for help after being raped...he yells at you and says "will it make you happy if I talk to him...please?!"

That is really scary! Well they have officially put us on the map ...not in a good way either!!

Lying always comes back to haunt!
No matter what...all of these children will be effected! Do they even get that? doubt it..they still think they did nothing wrong!

Are you suggesting that if these things are true she deserved to be raped? Or that it is a lesser crime?
It wouldn't matter if she was a porn star....rape is rape! The definition does not change. DUH
Her background does not matter! This trial is about what happened on that night/morning.

There needs to be a full investigation done on who tipped JC off on being taped! None of this adds up. Once again I smell a rat and I firmly beleive Jc knew she was wired, just listen to him! Once again my opinion, but just goes to show NO ONE CAN BE TRUSTED IN ANY TYPE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT!

Did you notice on the tapes she says "Something did happen out there and you know about. I'm reporting it to you. If you seem to have forgotten..." said the accuser on the audio tape.
Christensen said "I didn't know about".."Now you do because I just told you. I was raped by John Sickels. What are you going to do about it?"
I will look into it. Will you live with that/ Please, said Christensen on the tape. Look into it/' aid the women. "tell me what looking into means, what are you going to do? Well, I can do some more talking with him. That's my best answer at this point. Because, like I said, that is not, in any way the way I reall it.

He first says when confronted "I DIDN"T KNOW ABOUT IT" but then says"THAT IS NOT, IN ANY WAY, THE WAY I RECALL IT"
He goes from I didn't know about it.. to.. that is not, in any way, the way I recall it......Recall what.. he just said he did not know about it.
This is a big hole in what he is saying and thank God it is on tape.
Why was no one informed about the victim accusing Sickels of rape and where would that information go, would that be the county attorney????????
And when she reported it to the DCI, who else in Creston would have been informed of that???
I ask because on the kcci news that said Christensen wired himself for that conversation... My bet is someone tipped him off. so who would have known the DCI was involved///
Thank you Trent your input would be greatly appreciated on these questions. As you seem to have alot of knowledge regarding the law...and no one in this corrupt community can follow it.

Also what is the penalty for not reporting a crime such as rape??????????

Daily Horoscope for December 4

Pisces

Go carefully, Pisces, because you could be vulnerable to those who might want to mislead you in some way. Unfortunately, you'll also do a good job of misleading yourself if you turn a blind eye to difficult situations. By taking an escapist attitude to anything that seems like too much hard work, you make a rod for your own back under current aspects. Don't persist in this for too long or it will lead to trouble.
