Trucks fail to obey the speed limit on that stretch of the road. It is like there is no sign that says SPEED LIMIT 35 MPH. This accident was bound to happen! To bad Law Inforcements did'nt see it coming and seek to enforce the speed limit on that stretch of the road. I know - I have lived on that portion of Highway 36 for years, and have often wondered what was it going to take to slow the big rigs down while going through this town? Maybe this is it?

We agree with Kathy, law enforcement seems to not care. We live in Simonton and knew and did business with Ms Jones. In our area the problem is growing on a daily basis. 18-wheel dump trucks are driving as if no traffic law ever existed. Complaints to TxDot, DPS and local do not help. Multiple fatalities WILL occur, it's only a matter of time. We sincerely hope you are correct, maybe this is it!

I agree with all of you. The police are quick to pull over cars on Hwy 36 - but seem to turn a blind eye to the BIG TRUCKS which are twice a dangerous! School has started - children are out - Buses are on the roads - if the Sheriff/ DPS and other law enforcement folks don't do something - we are bound to see it happen again. This area is growing at a fast rate. Big Rigs often use Highway 36 and FM 1093 to avoid the scales on I-10 - Don't you think that the Law Enforcement would do something? I have been in JJ's shop many times - always had a smile and a kind word. My heart goes out to her family. The Wallis & Siminton area has lost someone that will truly be missed.

Please Please email or call Texas State Rep Lois Kolkhorst with our concerns for getting something done about the safety of all who are daily threatened by the traffic in Wallis Texas on highway 36. Many things could be done to improve the safety of Highway 36 in Wallis TX. It is a serious problem that must gain the attention of our reps in Austin.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Scorpio

A loved one is extremely upset today, and you'll soon know all about it. Things are out of proportion, so a minor hitch becomes a huge drama that means you've got to drop everything in order to calm them down. Hey ho. At least it won't last long. If you're doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, you won't have as much patience as usual and nor will anyone else.
