A Simi Valley motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday when another motorist failed to yield to the oncoming biker.
According to a police report, the Simi Valley Police Department received a 911 call at 2:43 p.m. Dec. 26 reporting a collision at Sycamore Drive and Heywood Street.
Lt. Blair Summey, supervisor of the department’s traffic unit, said a Kia Spectra making a left turn from southbound Sycamore Drive onto eastbound Heywood Street collided with a motorcycle traveling north on Sycamore.

“The car turned in front of the motorcycle,” he said.
When officers arrived on the scene the rider of the motorcycle, 45-year-old Todd Harvey of Simi Valley, was unconscious and nonresponsive. Harvey was transported to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks for treatment of multiple injuries.
As of Tuesday morning, Harvey was in critical condition, Summey said.
After the crash, northbound Sycamore Drive was closed for about an hour.
The driver of the sedan, a 37-year-old Simi woman, was released and no charges have been filed against her.
“The driver is cooperating with the investigation. She’s upset; she’s concerned about the other person. She’s cooperating with police,” the lieutenant said.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, Summey said, and while detectives are continuing to investigate the accident to determine the final cause of the collision, it is believed that the driver of the sedan failed to yield the right of way to the oncoming motorcycle.
