When mothers go off to war
Sue Lynn Downes never took off the charm necklace. Never. When she was 16, her mother gave her the gold necklace with a heart-shaped charm bearing the word ''Daughter.'' After her son was born, Downes added a ... via The Morning Call

'Daddy and Grandma, they can all love the children. But there's something about a mother's love,'' said Turner, 28.''You need Mommy's nurturing. I just think it's totally different.''
Buckle your kids in and push the car in a lake. Might as well say whites are the only intelligent race on earth. Gas the rest. I can't read the rest of this story. |

Not a good comparison. I agree it is true that children need their mothers nurturing and love. Maybe you should read the rest of the story and not be so closed minded. That woman, kids and family would all probably agree with what she said. I also think there is a different between a mom and dads nurturing, whether it is a mom or dad missing from the home under any circumstances it is difficult on all involved because each parent plays a specific role in the lives of the children and the family. I am sure the father and grandparents loved and cared for the kids however no one could replace the absence and the longing of those kids to hear, see and feel their mothers love. |

I do not believe in women being anywhere near a combat area or a combat support area. I have always believed because of their specialty, nurturing and motherhood, that they must be protected more so than the rest of our troops. I am not saying that I believe we must sacrifice our men but MOTHERS especially must always be kept stateside. I know that women are perfectly capable to perform, even as combat personnel, in the military. But motherhood is next to the fight for freedom and liberty, the next most important job in this country. We also had a case of a mother in Iraq whose son was going to college on a scholarship for academics and sports prowess who came home to his funeral. He was killed by an illegal invader who had been in jail several times but the mayor of LA has designated his city as a sanctuary city. BALDERDASH.

here's a suggestion - if you are a female and have kids - DON'T JOIN THE MILITARY - if you're a female in the military - DON'T HAVE KIDS - that way, you will not cause any unnecessary suffering on the part of innocent children (who have a right to a full time mother) If you find yourself being sent off to war and you happen to be a mother, stop whining - THIS WAS YOUR CHOICE - you knew when you JOINED the military that the possibility always existed that you could get sent off to war - that is what soldiers do! It's not all about you - it's about SERVING YOUR COUNTRY, so shut up already!!!!!
