Our draft inducer blower motor fan broke a couple of blades 2 days before X-mas. Not only did were we told that there was a minimum of 5 days (until the following Monday) before a repair because "the store that carried the part was closed until Monday" but when the part did arrive, we were overcharged dramatically for it. Cool Breeze replaced not only the blower fan but the induction motor that went with it, charging me $450 for both. But even assuming that this was necessary, I could have ordered the same parts myself online and had them here the following day (X-mas Eve) for less than $300. A 50% markup from the price I could have purchased the part for myself, and a minimum 5 day delay is unacceptable. We froze through X-mas and then wrote a nearly $600 check due to 2 fan blades broken on a small furnace part. I will never use this service again.

By the way, after this experience with Cool Breeze, I will also never rely on Servicemagic ratings again.

I have had a really difficult time finding a reliable air conditioning repair service, as well as a reliable computer repair service. But I did find that these guys did a really good job. www.advancedtechinc.com

Yeah, service magic really can't be trusted, finding a roofing contractor through them was not easy, there where too few decent companies. Lucky I found a good one, but that was from a friends recommendation.

I think it's completely ridiculous what happened to you and your family. I've noticed that purchasing over the internet works so much better. It gets delivered right to your door and the price is a whole lot cheaper. I do almost all of my shopping online.

I would love to get my a/c done but first i have to fix my roof. Now if only I could find a roofing expert online to work on my fixer upper. http://www.eagleroofing.liveonatt.com

If you've got problems with an air conditioning unit, I suggest calling a group of electric contractors in New York (www.norwayelectric.com ) to help you out.

Really sorry to hear that, I consider service magic as good as Craigs' List when it comes to finding anyone good. Best thing to do is ask around for suggestions, word of mouth is really the most reliable way to find anything.

I definitely don't agree with you there. I think it's much easier to buy in store when you can see the actual product you are getting. Internet scamming is becoming easier and easier. Also, now they have computer repair over the internet? It is too weird, especially because it's usually my internet that doesn't work. ha. www.affordable-computer-repair-and-service.co...

Air conditioning is absolutely wonderful! I lived in Italy for two years, and they literally don't believe in air conditioning. It totally sucked.

I thought of something else. Wouldn't a sunroom also be nice? With the air conditioning keeping it a perfect temperature in the summer. Talk about perfect reading spot!

Malcome, the best decision I ever made was heat my wood-shop. While I spend WAY more time in there, I've gotten so much done.

Adelphos, do you just use a space heater or did you extend your air conditioning out to the garage?

I am so sorry Annette, what a terrible thing to have happen. It seems like around the holiday time, your heating would be very important. I hope that you got it fixed, and didn't freeze.

Air conditioning repair seems to be pretty big. I'm noticing a lot of companies here, but I would say that AAir Works Commercial Refrigeration isn't bad at all. I have friends that have used it and they've said it was good! They can be found here: http://search.daytona411.com/Daytona-Beach,FL...

I am so sorry to hear that people have not had a good experience here. I think people do their best and in an industry like air conditioning repair it seems impossible to make everyone perfectly happy. Best of luck in the future everyone!(ttp://normanaireserv ices.com/residential-heating-a c-and-service-repair.php)
