When I was 16 I used to go out to parties on the weekends and get drunk. It's different nowadays. Do I keep an eye on my children, yes, always. But we are all human and will make mistakes during the course of our life. The point of making these mistakes is to learn from them. Obviously these laws are in place for a good reason. What if one of these drunk kids got behind the wheel of a vehicle? What if one of them stumbled out in the road and got hit? You never know with teens nowadays. It's just scary how the times have changed.

The biggest problem with this story is that the news is making it seem like these skip parties don't happen everyday. Skip parties have been going on since before I was in high school, maybe before I was born! What I want to stress is that this is nothing new or anyting to be a headliner on a news channel. Nobody got killed, there were no fights....seems like a cool party to me. lol Seriously, the only people to blame wouyld be these kids parents.

Can I ask, do schools still contact parents when their kids aren't at school? Anyhow- when I see comments saying this is "kids will be kids," I can see WHY children as young as middle-schoolers are at drinking parties. I don't care, that is not normal behavior for young teens, and not all teens are drinkers; however, far too many people seem to see getting loaded as a rite of passage. Well, these kids did what they did; now - should the parents just say "oh well" and chalk it up to a "learning experience?" Or - as I believe - should they be disciplined for what they did? If not now, when? Parents are far too busy trying to be buddies to their kids rather than parents.

A mom,
I agree parents need to watch their kids and know their friends and know where they are, but even the best of parents have kids that mess up. They are human and humans make mistakes. I bet even you still make mistakes as an adult. So don't try to blame all the parents, good kids make bad choices, that's just part of growing up. A good parent is there to help them through it and show them the consequences of their actions.
I completely understand, there is not perfect kids or parents or adults.
However if you don't control your kids who will.
Good kids came from good parents does a fact.

I agree 100 % that the person that turned in the party did the right thing. One thing they need to be in school and the second think they had no business drinking. The party could of got out of hand and someone could of got hurt from fighting or killed by driving drunk......The person that did turn it in should get an award for stepping up and doing the right thing ,instead of so many people that just dont care.

"If you knew of a party like that, and the party went on as planned, and you did not snitch, then found out later that one of the kids wrecked their car and killed someone in the car or in another vehicle, how would you feel? Or, what if one of those kids went on to try meth, or cocaine and was never right again - hereas having this happen could be the wake-up call they need? "Down here" we call it "doing the right thing" not "snitching"

Mabel, shut the hell up. i'm certain you got crunk when you were in high school and had a great time. did that make you wanna do meth? you're a dumbass. fuck you mabel
