I'm doing my homework and you should do the same.

Public Information:

Lewis W. Sanders, Petitioner, against Julie A Garcia, Essex County District Attorney. ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE, Index No: RJI No: 861-09. Go to the County Clerk and foil it.

Here is just a little quote from it: "ORDERED, that pending the determination of this issues raised in this matter Julie A. Garcia as Essex County District Attorney and her office are hereby enjoined, restrained and prohibited from having any further role in the investigation and/or prosecution, if any, of Petitioner, Lewis W. Sanders.....

This may explain the "ILL" and "MISSING" Commissioner of the Board of Elections. Why is he asking Julie to step down from his case? Is he afraid of the outcome. WHAT IS HIS CASE? Why is the county claiming he is out on disability? Why is it taking so long to get to court. If you had any doubts about Julie, then look into this. Apparently, Lews people are afraid to go in front of her.

It is interesting. I knew it would finally come out. Anybody with any info on this should make it public. We've got 4 days til election. That giant "Clutch of lowlife scum bags" needs to be exposed prior to election. Obviously it is being kept from the press. Let's get it out there so people know what's going on. Slowly is not good enough. We need change. We need to choose the right people to make the change. Sheriff, DA, Supervisors, Town Council, Judges: the people we choose affect all of us. REGARDLESS OF PARTY.

How interesting this is. What judge/court would this go in front of? Why would Lewis Sanders ask D.A. Julie Garcia to step down from HIS case? His case is being ACCUSED of signing petitions, for KRISTY SPRAGUE, that Sanders did NOT legally witness the voters signing the petition. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW. You must witness the voter signing before you can sign the bottom of the petition affidavit that you, in fact, witnessed the signer. Now he is afraid of Garcia doing her job as District Attorney for Essex County. Give these Republicans enough ROPE and they WILL HANG THEMSELVES. Just sit back and watch. Be sure and support Garcia. Are they ever afraid of her.

Ain't politics dirty?

If Spague is elected you can bet Sander's attorneys will delay any trial until Kristy takes office. This type of politics sickens me. Let the people speak at the poles. Julie has shown intregety and will not back down. Kristy has already become a Republican pawn for some the select few republicanns that endorsed her through lies and distortions. This type of collusion shows contempt for the legal process.

Here is another point of view that has come to my attention:

"For those who supposedly did their homework, here is the rest of the story. If you read the entire Order to Show Cause and its Petition, you will see that the Sanders matter has nothing to do with Kristy Sprague, but rather was filed to keep Julie Garcia from using a minor issue for her own political gain. Knowing Sanders' attorneys, they are not afraid of Julie Garcia, but are only interested in seeking justice and righting the wrongs that are being committed by the current DA's office. If you read the court's order, you will see that Julie Garcia filed no papers in response. Instead, she appeared at the hearing and admitted to the court that she should not be the prosecutor in this case. Additionally, she asked the judge to meet with her privately, without Sanders' attorneys present, which the judge correctly refused to do. The court then ruled that Julie Garcia could not be the district attorney in any matter involving Lew Sanders. We do not need a district attorney who behaves in this manner. A vote for Kristy Sprague would be a vote for a qualified district attorney who will treat everyone fairly and impartially with no axe to grind."

So Max. When you say that a Vote for Kristy is a vote for a qualified DA who will treat everyone fairly and impartially with no axe to grind, are you considering the people who dared to disagree with her by supporting Garcia with lawn signs and letters to the editor and ended up as the subject of FOIL requests by Kristy's HUSBAND to the Essex DAs office and Essex County? Should we warn the Board of Supervisors and the citizens of Essex County that they should be prepared to be investigated if they disagree with her? Not exactly what I'm looking for in a DA.

Hi there, I'm trying to balance the half truths, rumors and outright lies that are spreading like wildfire on topix. I have nothing against Julie, and voted for her last time around. I think Kristy will do a better job, but will not be terribly upset if Julie wins. I responded to a particular post that I thought needed clarification. I clarified it. What I posted it true, whether it makes anyone happy, or not.-Max

Max , are you saying the Sanders investigation is Garcia's fault? If I understand the law at all it's because of the actions of Sanders that he is being investigated and it is a matter of conflict of interest so Garcia should not be involved in prosecuting the matter. As far as it being a minor issue I think the deceitfulness and corruption has tarnished the entire Republican Party and I am ashamed of being a member at the moment.

Nope, not saying that at all. According to my information, Kristy was/is not involved in that case in any way, and Julie was "asked" to also not be involved. I do not know anything about possible charges involving LS, and I don't see how that would transfer to a particular party in general. Nows a great time for us to all be tearing each other up, will it take more planes hitting more buildings in more cities to get us to work together again? I'm guessing that it probably will..
There are some real serious problems out there folks, and here we are, playing politics as usual. Both of these candidates are qualified and capable, and both will serve the county well. I would like to see Kristy win, but only because I think she would do a bit better job than Julie, but I don't have to be right, and you don't have to agree with me for us to be friends..-Max

Well said. I sort of thought that this particular legal issue was pro forma, Ms. Garcia would have to recuse herself anyway. I think the sense is that something is either purposely being set aside until after the election or covered up (or not being dealt with openly, as in not covered by media). With the other questions people are asking about the Republican commissioner, whether related to the legal issues or not (as well as obvious bad blood for some), people seem to believe they should be kept informed.

Are you retarded or are you republican? Your right, the order shows nothing that pertains to Sprague. However, it was Sprague and Hommes petition he tampered with. You consider tampering with candidates petition a MINOR ISSUE? Julie didn't initiate this. Disgruntled voters did. Let me give you a little lesson in the process of criminal activity. Someone commits a crime (lew and wife). BCI or Troopers investigage it. If probably cause is found, it is turned over to the DA. The DA decides if there is enought evidence to prosecute. In lews case, there is. If Julie filed papers instead of appearing in court, you would be bitching about that. She did the right thing by stepping aside. It is called ETHICS. She was asked to step aside and she agreed. This is the proper thing to do, considering the circumstances (lews support of Kristy). She could have easily requested to take the case and put the screws to him just to get back at him. Remember, HE is the one asking for her to be off the case. She is not vindictive and decided it was proper to let someone else (not so close to the situation) decide the outcome of this "SERIOUS" crime. I think if Julie took this case and put the screws to lew, like somebody should, it would help her. She did not take that road. And by the way, the attorney in this "order to show cause" is RON BRIGGS. That name ring a bell?

What makes you think kristy will do a better job. Ron Jackson tell that. What could you possibe know about kristy's track record. She claimed she lived here the last time she ran. She lost and went back to Clinton County. She rents a house now, during election. Will she run back to Clinton County when she loses? What you posted is not true. It's your opinion. Just like everyone else on here.

Julie had nothing to do with this. Except for the fact that after an investigation it goes to the DA. Sanders investigation is because sanders (and wife) committed a crime. You are so right about the conflict of interest. On my earlier thread, I said ethics, but conflict of interest is the correct term. You are right, it has tarnished the entire republican party. THAT IS WHY THEY DON'T WANT IT OUT. It could hurt Kristy, Ron Jackson, Dale French, and anyone else with democratic competition. Don't be ashamed of being a republican. Your views are your views and you should'nt be ashamed. The republicans in the current administration are just self serving jerks. I've met many good republicans who, like you, are ashamed. There are republican committee people who have been involved for many, many years. They support Julie. They are actually being asked to step down from the committee. The are from a generation where they believed in the ideals of the party, but that is not even a factor anymore. The party, at least in Essex County has changed. In older days, they stood for something. Now they stand for themselves and what they can get.

I am supporting Garcia because I want a prosecutor in the DA's office not a slick politician with more slick political backers in the wings. Favors must always be paid back you know.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
