I asked you to find where bailing out private companies was in the confines of the Constitution. The only thing I can find is the tenth amendment. You obviously have not can't find it. Point proven

Local wrote: Wisconsin is last in job creation...and Missouri is 49th. Not much to brag about, I agree. What can Emerson do (I can't believe I'm defending her)to help Missouri gain more jobs? Congress is totally deadlocked and will be so until the election. The Repubs in the House sure aren't going to spend any money for jobs and even if they did, the Senate Repubs would filibuster. Repeal the fair trade agreements, institute a consumption tax instead of income taxes and business taxes, impose tariffs on imports. There are many things Congress can do. First we need to change Congress.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. Bailing out companies and banks are not powers delegated to Congress. I don't think it gets any simpler than this. Our representatives did not have our permission to do these things.

Article 8 Section 1 of the Constitution says congress may collect taxes and levy duties to "provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States." In late 2008 congress decided that TARP and bailouts were in the general welfare of the United States. The entire United States. Not individual states.

Running up sixteen Trillion in debt is the antithesis of providing for the general welfare. The bailouts and stimulus spending are among the most wasteful and irresponsible misuses of taxpayer dollars that have occurred in the past century. If we quit deficit spending today, it would likely take three generations to pay off the debt that has been incurred as a result of asinine Keynesian, Kenyan spending sprees.

Tell me what the founding fathers meant by general welfare? I am pretty sure it was not bailing out private sector business!

Is that right? Well, you're name is not in the constitution nor your ideas of what's what.
"General Welfare" is whatever the three branches of govt says it is.

Republicans must wonder about congresswoman Emerson's sincerity on spending cuts. In the Southeast Missourian on Tuesday, the congresswoman railed against a wasteful, ineffective federal government. On the same page, there were records of two spending cut votes proposed in Congress. Missouri Republican congressmen Sam Graves, Vicky Hartzler, Billy Long and Blaine Luetkemeyer voted to decrease funding for the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C., by $1.2 million. Missouri Democrat congressmen Russ Carnahan, William Lacy Clay, Emanuel Cleaver and Republican Jo Ann Emerson opposed the cuts. Another program up for vote would have cut $1 million from the Washington-located Open World Leadership Center "that educates foreign leaders about democratic principles." Missouri Republican congressmen Sam Graves, Vicky Hartzler, Billy Long and Blaine Luetkemeyer voted to decrease funding. Missouri Democrat congressmen Russ Carnahan, William Lacy Clay, Emanuel Cleaver and Republican Jo Ann Emerson opposed the cuts. When legislators refuse to cut spending, the Treasury Department must seek more funding. Before they borrow from the Chinese, they first draw from collected payroll taxes that were originally intended to fund Social Security. Bob Parker will prioritize keeping Social Security solvent by cutting spending. He will not subsidize tourist attractions and foreign dignitary boondoggles. Vote Republican on Aug.

I like in the old 3rd district (Festus) thatis now apart of the 8th. I just got into the political sceen for this district.I sent out emails to both Emerson and Parker. Imagine my surprise when Bob Parker himself called me and talked with me. We talked for about 30 minutes on Friday 8/2/12 before he left for the Cape. I do not know either of these people, but as of today I have not heard from anyone from Emerson's camp. I guess she does not care about my vote, so she will not get it.
