Xanax you might find a reputable doctor that will write it for 30 days no refills, then add refills but only for 60 days without revisiting the reason for need for the drug. Xanax is on the watch list to watch for doctors prescribing it, how, much and how often. It is habit forming, and also one that some folks sell or give to others.

Maybe your husbands doctor refused to refill it because he or she fears your husband is becoming addicted?

No one said it was alright. They pointed out the flaws in the system. Doctor shopping is against the law in several states and should be here. Doctors should also be able to KNOW if this patient is already getting pain meds from another doctor. Yes, there are doctors out there that prescribe just to get the nutcase out of the office. Word gets around and soon a doctor will have a bad reputation and a waiting room full of pill heads. Some doctors also send a patient home with way too much medication, because they are afraid the patient may sue or do something else, or get in pain and not be able to get relieved. I see no need for a doctor to send a patient home with three different types of pain medication and each has at least 2 refills on it. If you weren't a junkie before, you could easily become one taking these medication by the schedule sent home from the hospital.
Dr. shopping is against the law. There are drs that will give a patient way too much medication and keep them coming back for more, they only need one doctor if they find the right one.

If you all say you can ask the dr for what you want and he'll give you a prescription, could you please tell me which dr will give my husband his Xanax back?
Sounds like he has the right doctor. Must be a reason why he took them.

That office has been in trouble for over prescribing to other patients so DEA told them they couldn't write Xanax scripts. My husband has an anxiety disorder and has been on them for about 5 years. He didn't even take the suggested dose of 1 pill 3 times a day but 1 a day is all he ever requested. Anyways.....

No I wasn't taking them. What I was saying is that he only requested 30 a month when the dr tried to give him 90 a month.

dr.livermore is a very good dr!!!and my family has had to use him several times over the years,he doesnt abuse giving pain meds,he does surgerys and normally when someone has surgery they will need pain meds afterwards, just because a dr gives out pain meds or a patient uses them as prescribed, does not mean there bad doctors or the people are pill heads, pain meds are prescribed to people who really need them, and not everyone abuses them!!!

If he prescribes pain medication it is for someone who has just had surgery and usually with just one or no refills. He does not prescribe any pain medication for long term use at all.He is an ENT and the primary care physician would be the one to prescribe long term medications in most cases. He is not a pill pusher!

I have scoliosis, not a serious case, but enough to cause me discomfort. I was prescribed loratab by my doc, and had to go back because I just couldn't take it, he put me on ultram, supposed to be non narcotic, therefore non addicting. Worst drug ever! I became one of those pill heads in the docs office. I liked the high and the pain relief. I was addicted for about 2 years. I'm sober now, although I've had to have a script for loratab once, and it didn't make me loopy like I used to, did what it was supposed to. I don't take anything other than iburophen or Tylenol for my back. Ultram is a horrible drug that should be off the market.

Healthgrades is a site you can look docs up. Contact the Missouri Narcotics Licensing division. They can tell u if he has any infractions. Dont know which but if were me I would find a site specific to Missouri physician legal info. The Cape Girardeau County Area Medical Society can help guide you to resources too. I wont diss Topix info. Having other documented resources would be another way to ease your mind.

To "oh no", yes you should be concerned. He took my baby's tonsils out when he was 15 months old. My child became severely dehydrated and I called his office repeatedly and they would just tell me to keep trying to force the "hydrocodone" down his throat even though I told them it didn't seem to be helping him. Finally my child's pediatrician hospitalized him, he was there for over a week and livermore only stopped in to see him for a "follow up" for a few minutes one time. I was told by the nurses the only reason he showed up then was because the pediatrician called him and chewed his azz! My advice to you, ask for a referral to someone else. He doesn't give two sh*ts about his patients, just making money. Ask around at the hospital about him, the honest people who work there will tell you the same.
