university child development center at semo campus- sikeston- worth it, go do a "tour" whenever they are open. no need for appt. its an open center- means parents can come and go as they please. kids have a blast while learning!

I strongly urge you to also look at the hotline records at university child development center BEFORE you leave your children there. NEVER judge a book by its cover. Just because a place looks nice and the staff is friendly, loving and caring to your face does NOT mean they are like that when you turn your back. They have had several hotline reports since the old director left and the one that's there now took over. 3 employees were fired for child abuse after one of the last hotline calls. And the abuse that time happened in the infant room. I'm not trying to "bash" that center, i'm just replying to the question that is the topic here. I just want you to be able to make an informed decision about where you leave your precious treasures of children.

how do i see the hotline records? i do know that all three girls were fired and i know that child has a big brother that the finger marks fit also. what more can you do when you find a mark on a child? i think they did the best possible thing to do. this could and does happen at all daycares. my kids go there and i know this case was dropped. did you see the tiny finger marks? i did.

His big brother is barely 3yrs old. And hotline records are public for child care centers minus the names and such. And they were hotlined more than once and one of the girls fired was reported before for child abuse. I'm just saying that anyone looking for child care these days should check into EVERYTHING about a center before leaving their child there. Call the childrens division to find out the steps to gaining access to the records you want. Or Child Care Regulations for Centers and Group Homes. I hope this information helps!

The staff were fired for the safety and wellbeing of the center. NOT because any of the three were found guilty or had been proven to have actually done anything. And the director hotlined the staff just to prove that the center had nothing to hide. I would not send my child there but its not because I think they mistreat and abuse children.
I too saw the child's arm and it was merely a bruise.. just as the investigators ruled. "A concerned parent" jumped the gun and ruined a few girls lives. She kept her child in the center (both of them) so it must not have been that serious!

the sikeston child dev center has been going down hill for a long time. its not just the staff its everything about it, the rules, the regulations and the way they teach. i use to take my child there and pulled him out a few months back. i also remember that hotline and the bruises were tiny and from what i observed i dont think they were finger marks, no wonder the hotline was dimissed. that goes to show you that the place has serious problems if they fore three girls for something they didnt even do!

i understand that, hotlining them was probably the right thing to do, but i also think it was taken to extreme when they fired the girls. what about the time the child was with his mother, how do you know it didnt happen at home? so why should these girls suffer for something none of them did

I dont think they should have been fired at all. Suspended until the end of investigatiom, maybe. But I agree with all your saying. It was blow out of porportion..

# 1- First off the hotline was dropped. Because the girls were not found to be guilty.

#2- The girls were "fired" (terminated) but when the whole ordeal went down they were never told to their faces that they were fired (terminated) until questioned about it.

#3- As someone involved in this whole ordeal. I think it was wrong of us to be "fired" or terminated with out the investigation being finalized. We were asked if we would like to come back. But, we choose not to come back because of the blow of this.

#4- WE ARE INNOCENCE. WE WERE PROVEN INNOCENT. As for what happened we all feel bad for what happened. We have no idea what happened to the child in question. Did this hurt our reputation? In some ways yes it did. But, in other cases it didn't because the ones who know us, Know we would never do this.

#5- It's your decision as to whether or not where your children should go. Check into every center you want. It is your decision to go where you want to go not everyone else's to get on here talking about hotline reports. Yes they have been reported, yes they have some issues to surface out but doesn't all the daycares of something to work out to make it better.
