It would be nice if the Press-Telegram put as much effort into improving its' news reporting and covering all events as it does with its' bias towards Gay's and Gay Pride Week. The reporting is so one-sided that it is sickening. What gets old is having this constantly preached at us, whatever happened to objective news reporting?
You don't even have an Entertainment Editor anymore, his pro-gay viewpoint is so obvious and just about every article deals with this. Isn't there other news in the entertainment world besides trying to force the acceptance of Gays upon everyone?

I remember being taught to respect the President of the United States no matter who is elected. I still believe this to be correct. I find it disrespectful when it is said "This President is this..." and This President cannot do that...” We should stand by the person that we chose by an overall majority. This is what once reflected respect among us and commanded respect from those around the world.
With that being said: I would like to put my trust and belief that the people of the state of California will once again revote to keep the definition of "marriage" as it once was and should be, between a man and a woman. "Gay" used to be another word for being happy, it no longer is. Marriage is not so much a state of being as it is a public institution. The general opinion of those who oppose my view is that it is racist and hateful. It is not. The homosexual/lesbian lifestyle is not a race, in fact, it is anti-race. Should the vote of the people of the state of California concur with the recent "over-ruling" of the people then I would respect that. I will then tolerate it, as I do many things, but, I will not have to accept it as the new norm. The Traditional family, The Nuclear family, The Unclear family...what's next? People have a right to happiness but not at the expense of others. In the end and if need be I will respectfully agree to disagree. Of course, I question public servants however; the election process is a large part of this. I do not oppose the president just because of party affiliation nor do I condone it in either direction. The fact is that we should question the authority that took it upon itself to OVERRULE the wishes of 61% of the people of the state of California. I do not preach or push that marriage is between a man and a woman; I accept this as the only definition. I do not think that the alternative lifestyles should be promoted as "Equal". Call it a “Civil Union" or make up your own word for your bond. How can 3% of the people be allowed to offend the rest of us? The reason that you see more divorced “straight” couples is because there are MORE straight couples out there. Give them (The alternative lifestylers) happiness, give them all of the rights that married people have, but do not let them take what we hold and believe to be holy. This is disrespectful. Ps. Your parades are disgusting! |

There are many people who hold dear the institution of marriage and what it is as defined. I do accept that there are homosexuals and lesbians everywhere, what I will not tolerate is the hijacking of a very important term that I and many others identify with. I am for your happiness and wish you every right that I enjoy as a "married" man. Will you not be content with a civil union and not show disrespect toward those that are offended by your attempt at redefining what is important to us? It is you that tries to equate youself as a race. You are anti-race. These are my beliefs and outside of this forum I do not preach them. As I have stated before, I respectfully agree to disagree with you. I will vote to amend and should it not be of consequence then I will live with that. If it should go in our favor can you live with that? Will you move on? Or is it you that lacks compassion? |

I live right above the festival area, and its always a good vibe with the people, and this is one of the good things about long beach. I'm not gay, but have family and friends who are, and i support their rights. Our gay and lesbian population is about 1/5th of the total population of the city. Move to Alabama if you don't like gay people. Although gays are everywhere, and you better get used to it, or i guess move to the north pole, but i think they have gay penguins too.

Chris in O. C. So you were taught to respect the President. Please explain what that has to do with gay and lesbian people. I can explain it as not being too bright. Mandatory respect is actually brainwashing and if you can respect Bush in anyway then you obviously have very little grey matter to wash.

Judged:
1 People that are gay struggle and suffer like the blacks 50 years ago...remember the black and white footage of white cops spraying down black folks. Yeah. They look real dumb, ugly, ignorant and grotesque now. And someday, o will your views. |

That video was nasty like you, yeah right. Yeah right you are depraved and white people just can't dance... You're hopeless and absolutely exasperating! |

Once again you equate homosexuals and lesbians with race. Not so fast. The "gay" community does not bother me nor do I have any prejudicial feelings toward them. I don't knock the lifestyle. I am only attempting to defend the definition of "marriage" as it is. As a slice of the cultural pie you have acceptance. Do you have to continue with your complex? Don't you yourself believe in anything? |

Having been married for almost 30 years, my view is that the biggest threat to marriage is divorce! I'll be voting against the so called marriage proposition. I am not threatened by gay marriage nor are my children threatened by gay marriage.

There is a great historical article in the San Jose Mercury News (http://origin.mercurynews.com /news/ci_9292697?nclick_check= 1) about how both the California and the US Supreme Courts ruled that a 67% yes vote on Proposition 14 in 1964 allowing racial discrimination in housing was still unconstitutional. Our Founding Fathers designed the Constitution to help protect the people from the tyranny of the majority.

Maybe we can all learn something from penguins. How do they treat the gay penguin community? |

If sex (however you practice it) is a private matter normally explored in private unless you want to go to jail, why is it necessary to mount a parade to 'celebrate' a private matter?? I'm just asking...
I have never seen a job or other such application that asked sexual preference. Why announce it? |
|
No one has to "practice" sex because sex is natural. I never had to practice at it to be great at it. As for jail, there are many breeders between 18-22 that frequent parks for sex in cars and sometimes out of cars. Should those college students be turned over to police, and have college stopped to save us taxpayers from paying financial aid? LOL Just think, many heterosexuals could be sent to jail. Mostly in America people freak out over sex. It's like years ago how women would faint if someone said a bad word. It's a neurosis. |
|
I Agree 100% I'm glad that gays can get married...it sure will not affect the straight marriage between my wife and I. I'm so sick of these religious wackos who make a big deal of gay marriage because of what is in the bible. Guess what...there is a separation of church and state in this country. I hope every state will allow gay marriage. |

Don't worry, I'm not going to go out and take tag numbers down of breeders having sex because I don't care if people are having sex or not. I was simply making a point that more breeders have sex in public than gay people.
We hear a lot more about gay men getting busted in some isolated park at 4am than we do breeders because the cops turn the other way. Gays could make sure cops do the job the right way if we wanted to but we don't want to see some 18 year old taken to jail for having sex. Each weekend thousands of breeders have sex in public parks across America but when you hear about a park sting operation, you only hear of gay men. I wonder why that is? What about the ugly old hetero male having sex? I find that offensive LOL Gays are not as obsessed with sex as heteros. |
|
|
If it weren't for the "breeders" where would the gays come from? Sprout up from under cabbage leaves?
When's the Straight Pride parade? What you mean there isn't one? |
