Could not agree more. Businesses are valued more than residents in this town...businesses that benefit those who live elsewhere.
Could it be because our elected officials would rather see all residents eliminated from our city except for themselves? Consider this.....

On Thursday Night, Councilman DeLong spoke at the Belmont Shore Residents Association (BSRA) meeting and told the audience that the city "really doesn't make money off residential neighborhoods because the taxes for public safety balances property taxes taken in." According to Councilman DeLong, "that is not the case with commercial and business properties which consume less taxes."

Now, do you wonder why our city cares so little about residential property owners and their families.

I hope you didnt let him slide on that statement Mike. Since Shore residents pay more property taxes than most areas and get less service. Maybe he was factoring the city as a whole with all of its low income housing. That would be an idea. Get rid of low income housing and public safety costs will go down. But DeLong has decided to decrease public safety by getting rid of 100 cops and "hoping" nothing bad happens. Guess the Wilson High shooting kind of bit him and Foster in the butt. Nothing like a school murder to highlight failures in keeping residents safe. This is another reason DeLong will only be a one term Councilman.

"Business-friendly" is an abstract concept. If it held any merit, why isn't Long Beach a thriving metropolis instead of a financially struggling urban city?

Long Beach, business friendly???? I guess this award is comparable to a student with straight "D's" telling a group of students with straight "F's" he is the smartest one in the bunch.

The City's Economic Development Bureau has just been totally destroyed by the clowns now in charge of the City....no more business attraction, no more small business loans, no more professional economic development of any kind. If you think it was bad in the past, just wait until you see which incapable, self-serving idiots are in charge of the City's economic development future, all in the name of their greed and self-promotion. God help us all -

Let's face it. The Long Beach business environment has improved. So much so, that even skinny white nerds feel comfortable robbing them. Nobody can claim it isn't a pleasant robber/business relationship, as tapes have shown. No lines to wait in, no baseball bat, or mace reprisals. Just give them a peek of your .45, get the money, and be on your way.

Didn't have much of a choice. I had my hand up to ask a question and DeLong refused to call on me just like he does at the other meetings I attend where he is the speaker.

The Economic Devel. Bureau deserved to be gutted. The man in charge is widely known to be incompetent and ineffective. Why they don't just fire him and bring in someone else is difficult to explain. Yet he keeps his job and top pay, despite running a so-called bureau that now has only 3 people.

Maybe, if you're only polling nail parlors, wig shops and pupuserias.
I am the so-called proprietor of a combination nail parlor/wig shop/ pupuseria located here in Long Beyatch, and I got to tell you like it is. I pay for business licenses, permits of all kinds, asssessments, inspections, corrections, rejections and everything else you can think of. After all that, my net profits last year came to eighteen dollars and thirty-nine cents! Business friendly? Are you kidding me? I am going to relocate my business to Signal Hill. Goodbye Long Beyatchians.

Daily Horoscope for December 25

Virgo

So much love and effort. You want the day to be a big success, and it's going to be that way. You'll be very popular if you can bring some spontaneity to the day, such as springing an exciting surprise on everyone or swapping a tired old tradition for something much more interesting. You might also have an unexpected visitor at some point.
