He also spent his entire time on stage with his back to the audience while he was singing. He was also, drunk as a skunk. The Carousel had some major acts in its short history. I saw something there-can't remember who or what the heck it was, though. Speaking of the Doors-a good read is: "No One Here Gets Out Alive"; about The Doors, JM and his last days, etc. And for my friend DR-I do recall my son-in-law's store getting 211'd once when he was on duty several years ago. WCPD was there in seconds. But over the years, it became a little more "unpleasant", ie: employee car's were 459'd/594'd, etc.(residents of the apt. N/side of San Berdu, and neighborhoods surrounding the school contributed to that, I believe). But I was always just grateful no employees were ever injured or killed during any incident there.

SGV resident Where it all began, Des Plaines, Illinois FAIL. The McDonald Brothers got started down 66 in San Bernardino. They'd franchised 10 or 12 stores(Downey, now the oldest, Anaheim, Pomona) before Ray Kroc bought them out. Des Plaines is a fakey tribute to Ray Kroc McDonald's; http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/206 The Big Mac was created by a Pittsburgh McDonald's franchisee in '68. It's well acknowledged as a Big Boy knockoff; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Mac

They said they once had 3 Bob's Big Boy restaurants in West Covina. Does anyone know where they were? 1) Eastland shopping center----2 and 3?

Does anyone remember Coffee Dan's restaurant located somewhere along where the West Covina mall is now located? We always stopped there for breakfast before we headed out on a vacation. How about Stark's restaurant next to the 10 freeway? Also Bob's Big Boy was a drive-in on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena and also another one further up on Colorado next to Pasadena City College. That is when we would cruise Colorado Boulevard, get to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and turn around.

It's a shame they closed almost all Bob's in California. Don't let this article fool you. The Bob's Big Boy on Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles just recently CLOSED. Why would they close a Bob's on Wilshire Blvd if they're trying to bring Bob's back?
The Bob's they closed had been in the same location for 36 or 37 years and just closed about a month ago on June 15th. Another piece of historic Los Angeles brushed aside.

I would not drive to LA if you paid me. Their is no place to park. The new meeters are $4 per hour.

Ive been to the BBB on Wilshire, it didnt seem like the Bobs I remembered back in its Hey Day. There is also another BBB on Riverside Blvd in Toluca Lake, right across from Moe's. Many A thru D list famous folks go there, bc of the proximity to the studio lots. Sometimes you cant find parking there, so you have to park in the streets. Check it out.

there used to be a Bob's Big Boy on Verdugo Blvd Glendale, we would steal the Bob's statue and throw it in the Crescenta Valley High school swimming pool as a prank,it was somewhat a school tradition at the end of the school year. the statue was never harmed and returned back to its base intact where he would continue to scare customers and small children alike with its grimace,

There was a parking lot behind the Bob's that would hold probably 50 cars easy. There was never a parking issue. And no, it's not $4 per hour to park in L.A. Like any major city, they nail you in the "hard to park" areas like downtown L.A.(which I avoid like the plague) and in some areas of Beverly Hills or Santa Monica. In those areas it can cost maybe a buck an hour to park at a meter. Anything higher than that is NOT the norm.

But like I say, I havn't been in L.A. for awhile. Thanks for the info. If I do decide to go into the City, I'll take the Gold Line.

I love that avatar. I just can't tell if he has a straight jacket on. He sure lost it on Saturday. Any shred of credibility is history. Smartcan's credibility has left the building. He and lcr (OPF) are one and the same. He must have had one hell of a hangover all day Sunday. just-Rog wrote: <quoted text> We had 2 in Pasadena. BBB's on Vincent s/10 FWY. Coffee Dan's used to have a great hot fudge sundae. The bar was called the Wooden Horse. Lots of hanky-panky there. Starks was on Hollenbeck s/ 10 FWY. Lots of entertainers from the Carousel used to stop there along with celebs comming back from Palm Srpings. Lots of memories.
