Hey if he shot an unarmed man like that, then I support this man's lawsuit. The Department was wrong in this case and needs to pay up!

So Jose - you think stealing a car is a crime punishable by death?

We know what he was doing. SLEEPING. Obviously the po po asked this question. Did you read the article he was not charged. So bad decision do to the cops error resulted in no charges being filed.

The officer should have secured the vehicle before impounding it.What was this jackass doing sleeping in a stolen vehicle?? Pay off the medical bills and time off work and that's all. He deserves nothing more. What an A-Hole!

Was this guy drunk? how come he didn't wake-up when the car was being towed? Why didn't he say something? If the cop "shot first and talked after" not knowing what the hell he was facing, you can thank the ACLU for taking "stress training" out of the academy. Now you have officers that don't know how to handle stress, when dealing with stressful surprises.

"When police officers began inventory of the SUV's contents, they were surprised by movement in the cargo area, and Amos fired a shot through the rear hatch, according to the district attorney's review. Less than a minute later, Amos opened the hatch and Jensen fell out of the car onto the floor, unarmed. "

Ok, I usually support the police on most everything, but shouldn't you know what you are firing at first? Amos sounds negligent to me

My guess? Sierra Madre will be renamed Jensentown....

The answer to your question lies in the fact that the man wasn't charged with anything. Maybe the officers were mistaken in thinking that the vehicle was stolen. In any event, they had no business shooting an unarmed man just because his presence "surprised" them. Only a nutcase would think they were justified.

I`m a big cop supporter but I don`t see how a cop or person could shoot at a person waking up in a car. Where is the threat? Story is weird.

Also, sue the cop, not his department.

could've been some drunk sleeping in any random car (stolen or not)...could've been a kidnapped victim tied up...could've been a car thief sleeping....could've been some person sleeping off the booze cause they didn't want to drunk drive...no matter what the case, he was unarmed and did NOT threaten the cops in any way.

seems like a pretty open and shut case. sierra madre PD will lose big time.

First, if my car would to be impounded I would hope they would take care of it. Not shoot through it! Second, it was a stolen vehicle if the guy was in there he probably stole it. Pay his medical bill and that's it.

Sounds like the SUV was his...how can this cop go shooting his gun without knowing what he is shooting at? Totally irresponsible for a gun to be used that way.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Capricorn

You'll have difficulty finding equilibrium in your emotional life at the moment; try to control the impulsive side of your character. At work, your usual powers of intuition will be clouded. Fits of feverishness may bother you and break down your energy. If you can get out into the countryside for a walk, you'll feel much better.
