Three named to school consolidation committee

Since he was elected in March, George Sleeman has moved from social outcast to consensus team player. After all the earlier statements I am surprised to see George was elected by the BSD Board. Maybe things are changing. Maybe prople can let bygones be bygones. What's next? Mike Bethel as Town Manager?

Yes George has made a big difference and the BSD board seems to be finally getting things done.

They will get things done till one day the kitty is dry and Georgie is the only one who has a smile like a cheshire cat! Actually I think he looks and acts more like Mr Magoo!

I see one of the biggest anti sleeman people was not here for the vote. She was out of town. Maybe her being out of town is why things are getting done????? Just wondering. HMMMMMMM

This issue is not about George. It's about this schoold board's vision they had several years ago before the middle school was built. Now putting the 5th grade into the middle school. Seriously - these people have had this plan laid out long before George came into the picture. The most reasonable thing to do is put all k-1 at Molly Stark - moving teachers and all the resourses from the other 2 and putting them in one localtion. Then put 2-3 at Catamount - 4-5 at monument again moving teachers all the resourses from these schools to fit into 3 specialized schools for the grades. Then divid the kids into classrooms in which they can learn - A students - B students and down the line. Right now our kids have to be in class rooms where striving to be better is not incouraged. Just do the work you got infront of you and if you know it great but they will not can not give anything harder to a smart student because that just wouldn't be fair to the stupid kids in the classroom.
It doesn't matter if they take 5th graders and move them - they are still going to have horrible low scores on all the state test if they do not improve the situation in the grade schools. That's why I say make the last 3 schools into specialized grade schools where all the resourses are at one place with the teachers and split these kids up into the correct groups - sounds bad until you have a kid who is extremely smart and talented being dragged down because the school can not encourge hard work because some of the kids 1/2 the classroom can not even do the grade level work assigned. Don't forget someone on an IEP can not be held back - that's discrimination.
